I use these with Mobil 1 synthetic extended performance. Those are what I have used for my car for the past 5 years and have put 60k miles on my car with no break downs yet. The only time my car has broken down was the transmission LITERALLY exploded while cruising on the interstate. I have an 03 Nissan Maxima 3.5L w/ automatic transmission. I only change my oil once a year with these. No I’m not crazy. 3k miles between oil changes is out dated with newer oils. The bonus is that the oil and filter cost about $50 dollars and I save a lot of time over changing it 4 times a year. Add up the costs of the traditional oil and filters and it will probably come to about $50 dollars a year but I have less down time with my car and superior engine protection. Another bonus is the environmental factor which is nice but the money for benefit and time ratio is the main reason I use these. I recommend for any car with low miles you plan on keeping. 200k miles is my goal for my car.

I have always bought the mobile one product line since 1997. They will make your vehicle last much longer than cheaper oils on the market today.

In my opinion these filters are very good, but can be better. I have had the Subaru factory filter tested, Purolator Pure One and this filter. All three have the same filtration ability as far as dirt left in the oil. But I believe this filter will hold more and flow more due to its design.
*Update: 02/23/2018. I now run the PUROLATOR BOSS filter as it has a lot more media, excellent filtration, construction, and price. I just cut open a Magneti Marelli – MOPAR filter, as seen in attached photo. These two look identical and the MOPAR filter is less than $5 on amazon. I have not tested the MOPAR filter, as I am sticking to the PUROLATOR BOSS filter.

Comparied to Nissan OEM filters, this filter is VERY heavy (if that is an indication of quality). Also, the fitting filter wrench I have slips off the OEM, but is solid on this one!
Coupled with Mobil 1 extended life synthetic oil, Mobil advertises that you may get 15,000 miles between oil changes!
Also, another suggestion for do-it-yourself oil changers — Amazon sells a drain plug valve, by Fumoto or something like that, that makes changing oil much, much easier! I got the two valves for both of our vehicles, and am quite pleased.

80 to 90 percent of engine wear occurs at startup. Mobil1 filters have excellent flow meaning that oil is pumped to critical engine parts faster at startup. Some filters have better filtration but because of restrictive media have low flow. Mobil1s filter 99% of 30 micron contaminants. A white blood cell is 25 microns.

I change my oil every 5000 miles. It’s nice to not have to change the filter every time. I change the filter every other oil change – so every 10000 miles. The peace of mind with these is nice. I gently remove the old filter with an oil filter wrench and hand tighten the new one. I always apply some oil to the gasket before hand tightening. No leaks or issues. The Amazon price is much better than the auto parts store and it’s delivered to my door. 2013 Mazda cx5.
