Excellent quality and perfect fit on ’05 turbo EJ20. The OEM hoses were worn, brittle, bulging (except the plastic “Y”). How badly I wanted to use those cool Mishimoto hose clamps on the long hose, but man they just would not fit–even on just the loose hose. But I didn’t buy it for the hose clamps; those were bonus (not going to knock a star off just for that). I just reused the old clamps on that one hose. The attached pics show not only a couple of the Intercooler hoses, but also some of the hoses from the ancillary kit.

Installed on 2005 wrx 2.0 fit perfectly didn’t have to trim hoses. Bov hose clamp on valve side was too small, reused old clamp

  3. LainFamily

Nothing lines up correctly except for the throttle body cuppler. Waste of money and time.

The Silicone hoses on my car were getting pretty bad and on top of that the stock Y pipe on the front mount intercooler for my car was plastic, so I decided to upgrade and this was the perfect upgrade for me. I didn’t have the money to go with a front mount intercooler so I went this route. These look great and they will last a lot longer than the rubber/ plastic hoses that were on there. Definitely worth the money.

The packaging was the first thing that really surprised me. I thought I’d be getting some bare hoses and clamps, maybe in a bag, but no, the Mishimoto packaging is really nice, a very nice box, the hoses were bagged together, and the clamps were bagged as well. Really high quality hardware on the clamps, and these make installing the stock intercooler so much easier. I hate the stock parts, they’re rigid and difficult to work with when trying to get everything back together. The red looks great in my engine bay too.

Bought the intercooler hose kit to replace/upgrade from the stock hoses on my 02 wrx. I didn’t suspect any issues from stock hoses but they are of much lesser quality and the stock y pipe hose is actually hard plastic and fairly restrictive which most of what there is to gain comes from upgrading the y pipe hose.

First off the hoses are of great quality, I got the red kit to give some contrast to the engine bay and it looks fantastic. The hoses are very flexible yet have a solid feel to them. The included clamps however were just crap to say the least. You get 2 for throttle body to intercooler 3 for y pipe and 2 for bypass valve to turbo. All of which came too small and deformed. I was unable to fix them so I reused the old ones. I would advise getting hose clamps to replace the spring ones on the bpv to turbo hose.

Installation went decently minus that dang bpv to turbo hose even with using oil to help slide it into place it was a stubborn one. I noticed it was a bit on the shorter side compared to my stock one so I had to even it out onto the intake and bvp enough that i could clamp it down. Interestingly, Im not sure if they redesigned the hoses(unless I just got a shorter one) as others on forums have said they’ve had to trim theirs to fit as they were a bit long. The other 2 hoses were easy to install to install.

Lastly in terms of performance it appears that the turbo spools up a bit easier and earlier maybe a few hundred rpms sooner, its also a bit more audible. I don’t have an ap or way to data log and pull stats but i do have a boost gauge(lamco factory). Through normal non spirited driving(2500-2800 shifts) where I tend to avoid boost to save feul im actually getting into boost making about 1-3 psi instead of being under the 0 mark depending on the gear.

Admittedly i was hesitant in spending 100 on a few hoses but since Im in Arizona I felt it was a good reliability mod plus Ive read bad stories about people blowing the stock ypipe and having to get towed. I’ll update the review with my butt dyno findings as I go about my normal driving habits.

Update: the turbo definitely feels like it wants to spool more and sooner then it did prior to install. I dont suspect any leaks as I’m hitting target boost figures so the noise im hearing must be the turbo spooling, would make sense as it is only audible in boost even below 7 psi.

I would recommend this to anyone thinking of replacing/upgrading the stock hoses even at 100$ tho I wish the included clamps were usable as t clamps aren’t the cheapest, maybe they’ll offer the kit without the clamps to help the wallet.

I was very happy overall with this product. It shipped in one day when I didn’t opt for the next day shipping. And the kit itself was great, the packaging is excellent and it come with very heavy duty clamps. I bought this product because the thottle body hose on my wrx was craked giving me a boost leak. Other websites want to sell the same hose that says sti for $70 alone. This is a great deal because you are getting the y-pipe and the wastegate hose also. The quality of the product is also good. Stock, your car comes with rubber hoses which allow for less air flow; silicone allows air to flow better giving you more throttle response.

  8. BERMAN

Great product, but wish it came with more specifics on sizing. I have a 2002 WRX with a TurboXS intercooler and Blouch 18G XT Turbo and was looking for this kit to replace some worn hoses and round out other blue mishimoto hoses that have been installed and performed extremely well over time. I had to return the product because several hoses did not fit my application. Note that I did not open or review the hose clamps for sizing or quality, but other reviewers have complained about those. Before returning, I took some measurements in hopes it may help other consumers out prior to purchase.
Throttle Body to IC connector: 2 3/4″ ID by 2″ L. Connector it was replacing was 2 3/4″ by 3″ L

BOV to Turbo Inlet connector: BOV side 1 1/4″ ID. Turbo inlet side 1″ ID. and overall length between 12 and 13 inches. The ID seem to be spot on for both sides, but the overall length came up a little short.

IC Y-pipe: IC connectors (2) 1 7/8″ ID. Turbo 1 3/4″ ID. Overall length not measured but seemed like it would have worked. Because of the larger turbo, the 1 3/4″ ID was too small for my application.

  9. Jose A Cruz

I certainly would recommend this to any owner of a 2003 Impreza wrx with high miles that hasn’t had the intake piping replaced. Be prepared to purchase all the surrounding hoses and vaccum lines from the dealership. All are going to be brittle and hard and will break upon removing the old pipe. After the installation was complete it works great. Its certainly a strudy pipe and made of robust materials.comes with all the clamps you would need .
