I bought a “plug and play” Android head unit kit for my 2009 Honda Civic. As expected, because my Civic is EX with premium sound, no sound played. (You know you have premium sound with factory amp because “Premium Sound System” is printed on the front of the radio.) Before this kit, I tried tapped the wire that turns on the factory amp, tying it to the amp turn on on the new radio. Alas, as expected, sound worked, but it was amplifying already amplified sound and sound was distorted above “volume 4”. So in came this kit, did the normal soldering of connections to the harness, bypassed the factory amp and everything works as expected. As others mentioned, came with excessive cables – now I have some for other projects. To get to the amp, I just popped out the panels under my manual shifter, unplugged the cable, leaving the amp in place and plugged this in – easy. I didn’t need to unfasten or move the center console stuff between the seats. 🙂 A few notes, you will lose your factory sub and the front tweeters as these signal chains are processed in the factory amp. I purchased aftermarket speakers with tweeters and an aftermarket sub, to make up for those frequencies in the music so this wasn’t an issue for me. If you are trying to use your stock speakers, I think Metra or Scosche has an RCA to Honda stock amp kit, you would run RCA out of your radio and then splice into the stock amp. That would be a better option than this with stock speakers, as sound is all muddy midrange with no highs or lows – unless you replace with aftermarket speakers as I did.

Not too hard to wire into the HU.
Harness was very long for my coupe so had to cut the wires shorter and strip them again but definitely an easy install.

VERY long wires but that’s not a bad thing at all. That just means more flexibility to customize the length you’d prefer harness snaps/fits to my 08 Civic EX (Premium Sound) perfectly. This kit should have included the antenna harness IMO. All 8th Gen civics require the antenna harness so why not just make and sell it together??? Regardless, it’s a good harness kit.

This does NOT fit my 2009 Honda Civic EX without navigation. Dumb me only figured this out after soldering all the wires and taping the final connection. So don’t listen to amazon on this one. It does not fit. I do not have the amp that I am aware however my radio has two wiring brackets and not just one. So how am I supposed to hook up my after market stereo if the two harness option doesn’t fit the factory brackets. This SUCKS. All this work and it didn’t fit. The gray one fits but the blue one is two big. Really upset. Bad bad for me.

My factory amplifier took a crap I replaced it with another one, almost 8 months later…boom, the other one stopped working, so I just went ahead and bought this kit, keep in mind this harness works phenomenal, but you’ll need to use an aftermarket amp, the oem one won’t work anymore, worked like a charm for my 07 civic si coupe!! It comes with tons of extra wire I really apreciatte that!!

Got this for my Honda 2008 retrofit. Plug matches ok. The printing on the wire for speaker location is nice and clear but the wire length was way too much. I wound up only using 2 feet of it. The amp is located (at least on the standard transmission) right behind the stick which is maybe 1 1/2 feet below the radio. If you are just doing a bypass then you will disconnect both plugs from the amp and plug this harness into the larger of the two. Lead the wires up to the radio plug and connect them together. I’ll keep the extra 10 feet for other projects.

Works as it should to bypass factory amp.. comes with plenty of wire.. the wires are probably about 20ft long.. I only needed 2ft or less, so i cut the rest off. I’ve been using the excess wire for other projects. So that made it an even better value.
