I purchased this to prep my car to try out a new wax and it worked. After the wash there was no beading, it was that easy. Maybe a bit expensive but it was easy to use.

Before applying the paint sealant, I used this soap to clean off all the old wax as well as the polishing compound. I mixed it up per the instructions and it did a great job of not only removing the wax, but it also did not leave streaks or spots as it dried.

The bottle I received came in a flatish bottle and pop top spout that made it easy to measure. My car is 5 years old, bought new. I wash with Meguiars gentle soaps and always apply Meguiars fast finish for protection when I am done. This has worked great for me, with nice shine and water beading until one day I got to talking to the neighbor while washing the car and let the soap dwell too long leaving it spotted all over — a mix of soap, hard water, and protectant that definitely looked like it would laugh heartily at any attempt to rewash it with the usual soap. It was probably time to strip the protection anyway, so I did some research and bought this. I used 1 ounce in a 1 gallon bucket of warm water and washed the car in quarter panels spending about 2 minutes per and immediately rinsing off until I worked my way all around the car, going back over all areas I previously washed with a rinse, keeping the whole car wet and rinsed until drying time. I could tell this soap was working and where I may have missed an area because of the sheeting action or lingering beading. Waffle towels to dry and the paint looked like glass again. Finished it with Meguiars fast finish and back to the usual routine for another five years [kidding, will probably do this 1x per year], making this soap a bargain and a life saver when your usual wash routine goes wrong.

Decontaminating your car prior to polishing means removing old waxes and sealants so they don’t gum up your polishing pads. This wash soap (detergent) does that and it’s really easy to work with. When I’m done with pads I throw them in the bucket containing the last of this soap solution to keep them soft until I can clean them. This is also a great product to use on a ceramic coated vehicle to get all the misc crud off, returning to just the ceramic protection.

I don’t often do coatings, but I do deal with a lot of neglected vehicles. Or vehicles that often see an automatic car wash. I bought this to mostly use as a presoak via foam cannon to cut through heavy dirt and grime, as well as whatever wax may be on the vehicle from the automatic car wash. 2-3oz of product in the foam cannon is all it takes to create plenty of foam. It seems to stick very well too. It has a citrus scent that isn’t too strong.
I almost gave this 4 stars, as it will tend to leave a residue. However, that’s only if you let it sit to the point that it starts to dry, whether using it as a presoak or for the actual wash. If you follow the directions and rinse OFTEN, you should be fine. I do not believe that this car soap “masks” the protection on your vehicle to make it look like the paint had been stripped, as I have used it on a Hydro Blue coated vehicle, and there was still beading and sheeting after rinsing the soap.

I purchased this product to deep cleanse my paint and remove past waxes/sealants on my 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-road. I wanted to start the prep process for adding a ceramic coating. I used the recommended 2-3 ounces of this in 3 gallons of water and high spray to activate and get suds. I went over my truck once and nothing my truck beaded water still great so did not strip off anything. Then I added slightly more of this strip wash so at least 3 ounces in with 3 gallons water. I went over my truck 2 more times and it did nothing. I have the Aerolon Tech Shine Wax/sealant on the truck and this did absolutely nothing to remove it. And to spend $18 for absolutely nothing isn’t good. I finally removed the wax on the truck a light polish. I would like a refund for this product and I will happily return the unused product with a prepaid shipping label. I cannot figure out the great reviews unless their vehicles had a basic cheap wax then maybe it worked. This product claims to remove waxes and sealants.

McKee’s 37 MK37-290 coating prep is another outstanding product in the McKees arsenal. This is not a maintenance car wash product but rather one you will use occasionally when you want to strip off old polished and sealants to get down to a clean foundation. It’s an excellent soap to use when you are preparing to coat, seal or wax your car. Remember, the quality of the surface preparation has a big impact on the final results when coating. Coating prep auto wash will “up your game” in the preparation phase. Try a bottle you won’t be disappointed!!
