I was actually liking this applicator, until after a couple uses the black foam detached 😟. I don’t think I’ll be able to reattach it because it’s going to eventually come in contact with the glue again, so at this point I may just need to throw it out.

This worked really well. I got it solely for tires. The main thing I liked about this is the precise edge that I could ‘cut’ along the wheel with this applicator. The overall size works very well for tires too – not too big and not too small! The storage case is nicely functional with a secure closure and opening to hang from a hook if you like.

Man, I’ve been using these MaxShine Tire applicators for about 3 months now and they’ve honestly been a total game changer for my weekend detailing routine. I usually spend a couple hours every Saturday giving my ride a good wash and polish, and these tire dressing applicators make that whole process so much smoother.
The sponge applicator is perfect for getting an even coat of tire shine gel all over the sidewalls without making a mess. And the little plastic cover snaps on super tight, so you can just toss it in your detailing bucket and not worry about anything spilling out or drying up between uses. Such a simple thing but it’s one of those little quality-of-life improvements that just makes the whole process more enjoyable, ya know?
One unexpected benefit is that the sponge actually seems to use less product than those cheapo foam applicators or trying to apply it with a rag. It just distributes it perfectly. Only minor gripe is that the sponge can get a bit gunked up if you don’t rinse it thoroughly after each use. But that’s just basic maintenance.
Anyway, for any weekend warriors out there who like to keep their ride looking fresh, I’d absolutely recommend picking up a couple of these MaxShine Tire applicator sets. Makes tire dressing so much easier and less messy. Two thumbs up from me!

My detailing kit has needed some “refurbishment” for a while now and while looking for replacement tools / items, I came across Maxshine products. This applicator was one of the many tools I ordered from Maxshine and I have been extremely impressed by just about everything in their lineup. This tire dressing applicator is no exception.
As far as I know, Maxshine makes two different tire dressing applicators. This one and another one that’s a little smaller than this and square (Maxshine Hydro-Tech Tire Foam Applicator Pad Waxing Sponge for Car Detailing, Black & Red). Having used both, I don’t think you can go wrong either way. They both work really well.
What I like about this particular one is that it’s rectangular, so it can cover more of the tire in one swipe. It also feels just a skosh better in my hand because I can easily get the base of my thumb behind it when pushing it around the tire wall. (But that’s probably more of a personal preference.) Like most Maxshine products, it’s very well made and offers great quality.
What I like perhaps most of all is that it comes with a plastic storage case so if you don’t have time to rinse it after use, you can just slip it into its protective storage case and throw it in the bucket (or tool tray without messing up any other tools you may have tossed in there as well. (I’d still rinse it out ASAP to keep it working for a good long while, but the storage case gives you some flexibility in this regard.) I think most detailers (who tend to be pretty persnickety in the first place) will appreciate this small product detail.
Overall, a great product that performs well and makes detailing more of a pleasure than a pain. Highly recommended!

Good size, texture, and firmness for applying tire-shine. I used it by spraying it on the applicator instead of on the tire (so no issues with overspray on the wheel or ground). When done, just slip the cover on it and it’s protected and keeps from getting tire-shine on nearby items.

Picked up this tire shine applicator to see how it might compare to the trusty 3″ nylon bristle paint brush I’ve used for the last 15 yrs to apply spray tire dress.
Pros:
• The soft foam compresses nicely to make good contact with the tire, allowing nearly full coverage of the product from rim to tire edge
• Cover keeps the foam sponge and product contained when not in use
Cons:
• The applicator is smaller than practical for all season tires, requiring more passes
• Applicator pad creates a foamy mess of the tire spray product
• Handle and cover are a thin plastic, and the handle isn’t very grippy once the product is added
• Durability is unknown, especially regarding the foam pad
Although this ended up being messy to use, this applicator did a good job applying the tire dress and I was satisfied with the results. I’ll continue to use it until it breaks down. I am skeptical of the durability, due to likely degrading of the foam after repeated use, and how the tire dress itself might cause the foam to separate from the plastic handle.
If you have low profile, sport tires this is likely perfectly sized. Alternate use – white board eraser.
For the price, it mostly met expectations but I did deduct 1 star because it wasn’t fully as advertised (messy, slippery grip) and concerns about long term durability.
