This aftermarket carburetor for my 1989 Toyota Pickup is a great deal coming in at less than $100.00.
I’ll get right to the point and state that the unit is installed and running. My subjective opinion is that the truck runs better with the new carb. The throttle response is better and it accelarates a lot faster however given the old carb has over 200K miles on it, I shouldn’t be surprised. The biggest difference between the factory unit and this one is that this one is shiney as it doesn’t have the olive-drab factory
coating. It also comes equipped with a dash-pot which is only needed for automatic transmission models however it doesn’t hurt anything if you leave it installed. This model also has one extra vacuum port that I left capped. I also had to make adjustments for the idle mixture, idle speed, and, high idle speed. The install was no easier or more diffcult than the factory unit but is still time consuming and somewhat challenging as there are at least 12 vacuum lines that need to be attached and Toyota’s use of through bolts instead of studs is a little chanllenging as well.
As I stated it looks shinny in comparison to the factory unit because it lacks the olive drab coating applied to the factory unit. Even though this is a “plug-n-play” unit, I have the factory shop manual and checked all the settings before installing it to the intake manifold. Once installed you will also need to make fine tuning adjustments for idle mixture, idles speed, and throttle up idle speed. I took a lot of pictures before removing the factory unit but still had to verify several of the vacuum lines were hooked up correctly.
A fresh look –
Cheaper than a rebuild kit for 22r and it is adjustable. If you have an original Toyota carburetor on your 22r you may already have experienced the frustration of not being to adjustable it and might have issues with emissions. This might be the solution. It comes with the mounting gaskets etc.

Straight forward this carb is a good value , my original carb wouldn’t stay on so I bought this Amazon one . the wires were correct on mine but the idle was too high even after trying to adjust I couldn’t figure it out . Took it off and noticed it was defective inside by the linkage . I swapped the new choke and whatever is connected to the wires to my old one and it started right up with good idle. For 90$ I think it’s worth it for the parts

I finally tracked down my carburetor, after UPS delivered it to the wrong address, and it appears to have been worth the wait! I haven’t installed it yet but it looks great, nice machining and the casting looks to be of high-quality. From what I can see, this is exactly what I expected and need and I’m very happy that I found this carburetor offered for sale at such a reasonable price compared to local auto-supply stores.

The seller is awesome and the carburetor is even better. The idle was pretty low when first installed but an easy fix. Just turn it in all the way, but make sure to not over tighten, just until it first stops. Then turn out 3.5 times. Thats your starting point. To set my choke correctly, I had to turn out one more time. 4.5 turns total. Truck runs pretty good now. Just need a valve adjustment and tune up. Will update after tune up

Saved time rebuilding the original carburetor for my 89 Toyota pickup. Needs some tuning but got the truck running. I’m happy.
