I installed this distributor the day I received it. Worked great for 4 months, then the same problem with stalling and loss of power started again. This is a very dangerous thing as my truck would stall going down the highway at speed, if a quick reaction was needed due to traffic or accident it could lead to an even greater accident. The least these manufacturers could do is not cheap out on components that will fail prematurely and endanger people.

Fit my 2003 3.3 6cyl Nissan Xterra perfectly. After trying MAF, fuel pump, IAC, and testing vacuum hoses this did the trick. Just make sure to mark the exact direction the dial is pointed and that it matches when you install the new one. After it’s in you can drive it away, but make sure to adjust the timing with a timing light ASAP. (Get engine to normal operating temp, turn off all electrical inside car and mare sure nothing is plugged into the 12 sockets, rev engine to 3k rpms, then turn off the car, unplug the BOTTOM harness on the TPS only, start car, rev to 3k rpms, with timing light on 1st cyl spark wire : time to the center of the pulley with timing light and then tighten the bolt on the distributor, turn off engine, connect the bottom harness on the TPS and start car. You’re done!
Not sure how long this will last, until I repair my factory one this is doing a great job so far 🙂

So I replaced the distributor on Monday, drove to and from the gym. Tuesday morning I left for work and about 3 blocks away my car misfires and then just dies in the middle of the street. After 4.5 hours of headache I got pissed off enough to tear apart this part only to quickly find out this little set screw was missing. I pulled the distributor out and turned it over when the screw and lock washer fell out. This means FROM THE FACTORY that screw was not properly tightened down. Got everything put back together and after $23 in parts, $45 in tools, and 4.5 hours of time I could have been working taken from me, car turned right over.

Quality control must have been lacking. Before installing, I took the cap, rotor and dust cover off to make sure everything looked good. All 3 of the wires inside were loose. The 2 that go to the coil weren’t quite seated all the way. It’s possible that this could cause misfire. Maybe not, but I’m glad I checked.
The wire to the camshaft position sensor was barely on the post. It was sticking up so high that it was actually bent over when the dust cover was installed. If I had just installed it as received, and it happened to work, it probably would have stopped working before too long.
After making sure all the wires were fully seated, and inspecting the rest inside, I closed it back up and installed it. My 2003 Xterra runs great now. The parts are all kind of cheap feeling, but they work. I’ve only had it in for 2 weeks, so I can’t say how durable it is yet.
3 stars because of the loose wires inside. Inspect the inside before you install.
