Normally it’s a good thing when a replacement part slides into place without any struggle, but not when it’s an air filter. Anything but a tight fit all around will let dirt get in, which is exactly *not* the point of an air filter. This one takes a bit of care to install so that it’s seated properly all around and it doesn’t block reinstallation of the top of the airbox. My suggestion is to put the back corners in first then work your way around to the front and double-check to be sure no part of the seal is sticking up. If you have to struggle to close the latches, you’ve almost certainly missed a segment.
Next time I need an air filter for my X5, I know just what to buy.
