This item is not good industrial quality TRUST ME. Very very flimsy and so thin it can break even by hand tightening.dont buy, I was really hoping it was too good to be true but wow it’s almost plastic feel. This is very bad quality metal…..not heavy not strong not dense and not INDUSTRIAL. Even the instructions say DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN OR WILL BREAK???! SERIOUSLY a metal bolt even the bolt cover was terribly designed normally washer is used on a metal cap but instead an O ring was used Terible idea( 4x less rubber) from a quarter washer to a tiny o-ring of 1gram? DEFINITELY returning…sad.

I feel compelled to share my concerns about the oil drain valve that I recently purchased, and I want to provide a cautionary review of the product. The oil drain valve is advertised to have a recommended torque setting of 16-18ft-lb, but my experience with it has been disappointing and concerning.
Following the manufacturer’s instructions, I set my torque wrench to the recommended 16ft-lb when installing the oil drain valve. However, to my dismay, the valve unexpectedly came loose and broken .
I prioritize proper maintenance and always ensure my tools, including my torque wrench, are calibrated and in good working condition. In fact, my torque wrench was calibrated just last week, and I have never encountered any issues with it before. Therefore, based on my experience, I believe that the oil drain valve has a defect that caused it to fail at a torque setting well below the manufacturer’s recommendation.
In my case, what was supposed to be a 20-minute oil change ended up taking me two hours to clean up the mess and replace the faulty oil drain valve.

I bought this for my son’s Audi A3. But it turns out my son’s Audi has a plastic oil pan with a plastic oil drain plug, so it didn’t work for him. However, I have a vintage Mercedes 450SL that was coming due for an oil change. I was pleased to find that it fit perfectly in that application.
I did the oil change and installed the plug. I didn’t want to wait six months for the next oil change to test how it worked to write a review… So I drained two quarts of oil into a container and poured it back into the engine. I waited a few minutes for the oil to drain down to the pan and gave this one a try.
I have drain plugs in other cars, but they are a ball valve type that drain slowly. This one is a bit different. When you push the hose in, it pushes in a seal that allows the oil to drain down the supplied hose. I gave it a whirl and it drained much quicker than the brass ball valve-type drains I have used in the past. When it was done, I pushed and twisted, closing the valve. I wiped the area down with a rag and installed the cap, so it is ready for the next oil change.
I am quite pleased with the ease of use and drainage speed. I will buy these to install in cars that I procure in the future.

Product comes with a metal box to hold the adapter and hose once the product is installed. This replaces your current oil drain plug permanently with a fitting and cap. Then when it is time to change the oil again simply remove the cap and insert and twist the adapter into the drain plug socket and drain the oil out without the mess. Direct the provided hose into an old bottle or into your catch basin. Spring sealed ball check valve provides a positive seal and the cover cap keeps road grime out of the fitting until the next oil change. Crush seal is included and may be the last time you ever have to mess with that as this is intended as a permanent solution. Will update this after the next oil change.

After changing the oil with this a couple of times, i took it off. The drain time was much too long and removing the protective cap was a bit of a pain.

I’ve heard of these devices being used in the past (e.g., Fumoto) but for whatever reason could never really convince myself to try one on any of my vehicles for fear of the valve going bad prematurely; came across this one and noticed that it was compatible with Kia vehicles (I have a 2018 Optima) so I decided why not take a chance. Plug screws into my Optima oil pan perfectly; one minor difference is that the plug length of this product is slightly shorter than that of the Optima factory drain plug–dunno if it matters but it is something to point out.
Anyways, after installing it I drove my car around for a bit and then checked to see if there was any leakage–so far, so good, no leakage but who knows if it’ll hold 6 months later (I’ve not owned/used this product long enough to know yet). As to whether the drain function works correctly–like I said I’ve not used the product long enough to perform an oil drain but perhaps I could have done a quick and brief drain test. I would be curious to eventually learn/discover as to whether the oil drains just as fast with this product vs. the drain rate when simply removing the plug.
One minor concern I have–and it might turn out to not even be a concern–is that the instructions state to “screw on the black cap”; I see that the black cap when fully in place covers the two small green rubber gaskets; I’m thinking about the long-term condition of those gaskets after repeated screwing of the black cap off and on–based on the placement of the cap it looks like you’d be screwing the cap over/across the gaskets…wouldn’t repeatedly doing that eventually result in the gaskets becoming worn down…or is it that maybe I’m not putting the cap back in place correctly?
Other than that I have no critical issues resulting from the use of this product so far.
