Customer –
I ordered this from Autozone and it was the wrong part. Orded it from Amazon and it was the correct part and easy to install. I got a package of 2 for $30 and Subaru wanted $120 for one. Glad I found it.

Easy enough to install if you keep the bolts from the prior lift, but it doesn’t hold the liftgate open! Even with both installed. I bought these for a 2015 Subaru Forester.

The driver side arm of the hatch snapped off at the ball and socket joint where it attaches to the hatch, which dropped the whole thing, nearly decapitating me. Used a stick until that got old. Went to the dealership’s parts department and they wanted $160 for the replacement arm they had in stock. Googled in the shop and found this option for so much cheaper. Worked great. Little awkward to put it back in and needed to use the existing screws since none came with it. I couldn’t easily get off the other side (only tried for like 10 seconds), so I just left it on but now have the matching one for when the passenger eventually fails. This was for my 2014 Subaru Forester with 80k miles, which is generally starting to fall apart….

These are just ok. They are much lighter than OEM. They are a little loose feeling after installation. However, the price was right.

I’ve had these installed for the last few months and they’re doing the job well. Make sure you extend your hatch upward as much as you can to get them installed (2014 Subaru Forester), it definitely took some strength to do.

Fit perfectly. Works great. Was pretty easy to replace, although there were no instructions and my son in law had to help me.

Fit well

The parts fit my Forester, and buying through Amazon saved me $72. Buying the part from the dealer would have cost $100!

Does what it says and was easy to install once I figured out the best way to prop my door up. I recommend having a second person but my 6’ ladder with a stable piece of 4” flat firewood to make up the difference. Note that you will have to take off both OEM strut in order to lift the gate the extra 4”. The ladder was the perfect height to hold the gate when removing the struts.
I used a 12mm crescent wrench for the top gate bolt and an 11mm socket wrench with extender for the bottom two frame bolts. Remember to save these frame bolts and if you can, the thin plastic washers. These do not come with the product which is why I docked it a star.
Installation was quick on my 2015 Forester XT and the extra height still works with the electronic door opening mechanism.

The installation was easy and the lift gates worked as prescribed. Now only time will tell if they are as good as the originals.
