2016 Ford Edge liftgate would not operate mainly on hot days or when the sun beat down on the liftgate. This cured my problem. Has never failed since installation.

Llevaba 3 años con problemas intermitentes al tratar de abrir la cajuela de una Ford Edge 2017. La cajuela se movía levemente del lado izquierdo pero la chapa no desaseguraba. La agencia Ford supuestamente trató varias veces de hacer el diagnóstico y reparación pero el problema persistió hasta que finalmente dejó de funcionar totalmente. Investigué en Internet y encontré un vídeo donde mencionaban que la solución era una chapa nueva pero el precio de la original era alto y además de dudosa calidad por lo que la compré en Amazon. Quité la anterior y coloqué la nueva y con eso quedó solucionado el problema. El único punto negativo es que la rosca donde se atornillan las tuercas viene muy frágil y se barrió (stripped thread) por lo que tuve que reparar los orificios por mi cuenta.

I’m sorry but, I just bought it on May 30 and today it doesn’t work, apparently it broke the internal gears, same thing i changed the above for.
In any case, I was able to contact the seller and they refunded me the money paid, for which I thank him, he was very responsible

Search YouTube for 2018 tailgate latch replacement to see how to remove the panels there is a video of a guy working on a red 2019 (mine is a 2018) he gives wrench/socket sizes which is helpful. My 2018 also has a bar across the access hole that I had to remove one nut and loosen the other to tilt it up to remove and replace the latch. It took me about 20 min because I was very careful with everything. If I had to do it again it would take about 7-8 min. It works perfectly!!!! Very happy, we’ll see if it lasts. Check the date of this review, If I don’t do an update that means its still working perfectly.

I bought this product for a 2015 Ford Edge SEL on February 2nd, 2022 and it failed on April 10, 2022 with normal use. I am unable to return since it is past the 30 day Amazon window. This is a terrible product that is worse than the OEM one (which failed after 2 years). Save your money and avoid this product! Complete junk!

Have not had a working lift gate since June 2023 and that all changed March 2024. I was quoted over $700 to get it fixed, $200 for the initial diagnostic, and not to mention they said I wouldn’t have my vehicle for weeks/month. Found this part on here and took everyone’s word and bought it. Hoping it holds out during another hot summer and is more durable than the ford manufacture was… thank you Amazon and reviews! I have a functioning car again.
