It will go onto a D170 but does not lineup correctly. It is off center with the steering system and causes the tractor to turn sharply right but not left.

I know it isn’t OEM, but fit great and is working well. Time will tell.

Worked like a charm!

Unfortunately didn’t work for my John Deere D160. The sector gear only had 19 teeth and my original has 26 teeth. Also when I connected the steering guide rod to the hole on the sector gear the gear was not centered with the front wheel straight. This resulted in only about a half turn going left. The new gear mounted to the plate ok as you can see in the 2nd photo but the issues revealed themselves when I mounted it to the tractor. In the 1st picture my original gear is on the bottom and the new is on the top. Gave 3 stars for the free returns and obviously this works for John deere mowers, just not my D160.

Installed this on a D140, and now the mower can’t turn left as tightly as it should., probably less than half as sharp as it should be able to turn when going left. Now I need to spring for the extra $ and buy the OEM part instead.
