KYB is the best.. Japanese high-end off-road shocks. Made to last. Much better than Rancho and other “popular” brands; trust me, I have tried regular off-road brands, and they are far behind KYB.

Quick shipping. Fits as expected for an 03 Tacoma 4×4. Recommend for applications with the use of a 2″ lift on the rear. I installed a 2″ lift block and ride quality was satisfied.

Fairly stiff and agressive, but maintains excellent road control. These are about control not comfort, and it shows. If comfort is your thing look at the twin tubes.

One important caveat here is that the shocks came uncompressed. Often shocks will arrive with a fiber harness, already compressed. One bolts the shock into place and then cuts the harness. No such arrangement graced these bad boys. Rather I had to improvise with some heavy zip-ties. I measured the distance between the bolts on the Tac and then daisy-chained the zip ties to a loop slightly larger to allow easier (I didn’t say “easy” purposely) implementation, compressing the shock and slipping the improvised harness over the shock. I’m of limited strength, so I found kneeling on the ground and pressing the shock to compress it using my body weight was the least taxing method to gain advantage over the damn thing.
A little tip that I discovered on the second installation is not so obvious: namely that I have a zip-tie tool that tightens the zip-ties and then cuts them. I use this for installation of deer fencing, but it occurred to me that I could use it on the improvised harness to incrementally tighten it until the openings on either end of lthe shock aligned with their correspondent bolts under the truck bed. This could be a worthwhile expenditure (link below) as it often comes in handy when dealing with zip ties and it works quite well.
I used KYB because every good mechanic that I talked to advised that using same is a no-brainer: great Japanese quality and reliability that the majority of professionals rely on to avoid having to do a job twice.

I love this shock, I own a 2004 toyota tacoma, and my rear shocks were completely blown. After installing these everything in general was way better. I the only problem i have noticed was that one was leaking dampening fluid, i called up amazon customer service, and got a replacement to me within two days at no cost to me. All in all these shocks are great i figured i just got a bad one. If the same thing happens to you call amazon first they will take care of you.

Shocks were great but the hardware for mounting shocks was missing (washers- nuts). Rubber grommets were in place but I had to use the old rusted washers and nuts. A little disappointing.
