These KYB Gas-a-just gas shocks are the way to go! I bought a pair for my 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE, that currently has 104,000 miles. I notice the difference as soon as I went for a test drive after I installed them myself! Before I installed these shocks, the rear suspension felt like it was bottoming out over bumps that didn’t seem too bad. After I installed them the ride was smoother, even over speed bumps and rough roads. I could tell that the back end of my car was more stiff.
I’m really considering changing my front struts to the KYB brand!

I own a 2014 Hyundai Elantra Limited with a 1.8 liter engine. I currently have 25,090 miles on it. I noticed at around 24,000 miles the rear suspension would crash over bumps and road imperfections. Especially when merging onto a freeway on a curving on ramp. Hit a bump, fish tail. I read up on the problem with other Elantra owners.They all seemed to be experiencing the same issue. So I decided to purchase these KYB’s. The difference is phenomenal! My Elantra drives even better than it did when it was new. I don’t want you to think that I am bashing on this vehicle. Keep in mind, that all vehicles have an Achilles heal. The factory gas shocks were never strong out the door, but these KYB’s do the trick, and do it RIGHT!!
For all of you do-it-yourselfers, the fix is quick and easy. I HIGHLY recommend you getting these shocks for your Elantra. You will immediately notice the difference. Rail road tracks? Over them with ease. Minor Road imperfections? no sweat!!

Definitely improves handling on 2016 Elantra GT GLS. I replaced the old shocks after 180K kms but I’m convinced these shocks provide better handling than the OEMs did when I got the car new. They give smoother ride even on this old car and most importantly: fix those nasty rear tracking issues on bumpy curves. Should have done it earlier!

2017 Kia Forte5 LX. One of the reasons I decided to replace my rear shocks at 62,000 miles was because my OEM shocks were no longer able to safely hold the load of 4 passengers. The other reason, of course, was for better performance overall when I drive. My car now seems to brake and accelerate faster, react to steering inputs quicker, and turn out of corners easier without losing traction on the inside wheels. And as other Hyundai/Kia owners have stated, I also feel like I should have swapped the rear shocks out with KYBs much sooner.

I “agonized” over researching rear shock absorbers for my 2015 Hyundai Elantra, after getting the ridiculously expensive estimate from Pep Boys if I had them supply both the parts and the labor to replace my OEM rear shocks. After much research and reading LOTS of reviews, I decided on getting these KYB, which seemed to get great reviews and were high-rated. However, I had them put on soon after they were shipped to me (Feb. 15, 2023), and here we are on October 14, 2024, and the rear shocks seem to be failing. I’ve done the push-down test, and the car bounces more than twice in the rear. It’s VERY DISAPPOINTING, since shocks are supposed to last between 50,000 and 100,000 miles. Yes, I travel to Pittsburgh at least 6 times a year to visit my daughters–and Pittsburgh roads are PRETTY HORRIBLE–but STILL, the car otherwise doesn’t get driven much while at home in Maryland–mostly by my youngest son, to get to his college (less than 10 miles away) and his jobs (right across from each other and less than 3 miles away), so I don’t understand WHY these shocks would have failed so quickly… EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED !!! I’m contemplating trying a slightly cheaper shock by KYB, BUT the one I’m considering reportedly has an upper attachment that is TOO BIG to fit the Elantra, so it has to be ground down. I believe my mechanic did NOT have to grind anything down when he installed these KYBs 18 months ago. Unfortunately, I HAVE TO PICK OUT A PAIR OF SHOCKS, whatever brand I get, as I need them replaced ALREADY !!!

My old shocks were totally worn and over due for replacement with 125000 miles on the car. When I would hit a bump it felt like the front and rear end of the car was going to fall off example riding 65 mph on highways 95 & 83 and beltway (695) in Maryland there are major issues where the asphalt changes to concrete especially bridge abutments. Now when I ride over the intersection points or pot holes I feel like I’m in my father’s big old 1980s Catillac tank rides smooth over anything. These are great for the money

Easy installation on my 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. The rear shocks were shot and the rear end of the car was skipping over bumps in corners. These shocks did help quite a bit. They really made the ride more comfortable but sporty. Recommended for the Hyundai Elantra GT.

Installed two rear KYB #554384 Gas-A-Just Shocks on a 2015 Kia Forte5 SX with 54,000 miles. Same rear suspension as a Hyundai Elantra and Veloster. BIG improvement in the ride: much less rear end hop and crashing noises over bumps, less stepping sideways, quieter inside. I wish I had installed these 30k miles ago. These shocks are a huge improvement over the stock units and are a very inexpensive upgrade at ANY MILAGE. Easy 30 to 45 minute installation if you have: a floor jack, jack stands, torque wrench and a rubber mallet. There are a couple of YouTube videos that step you through the process or buy a pair of these and point your mechanic to the videos. We’ll see how they last. Highly recommended.
