This is my second Air filter for my 2007 corvette. Even thought they are washable and reusable, a couple of friends have advised me against cleaning and reusing this filter. They claim it does not work as well, when cleaned and reused. The videos I have seen on cleaning this filter, always demonstrate on a rectangular shaped filter. After cleaning, when re-oiIing, I wouldn’t know how to tell if I was using the correct amount of oil. Didn’t think I would notice much of an increase in pick-up; approximately 10 HP on a 400 HP engine. Was pleasantly surprised.

This filter is all that is needed for a DIY aftermarket air intake for your C5 corvette. It is just like the SLP Blackwing system, however this filter element is even larger! Plus the carbon fiber gives an excellent look the the engine bay on my Z06. All you need to do to install on a C5 is remove the stock airbox and get a 4″ PVC coupler from lowes, tighten it around this intake, making sure it is a fully seated seal (which takes a bit of work), and be careful not to crack the carbon fiber! Then tighten the other side onto your MAF as the stock airbox was. All that’s needed now is a crankcase breather filter for the AIR emissions tube. With this filter, Longtubes, High flow cats, and a GHL Bullet exhaust my C5 Z06 was at 396 RWHP with tune. Great deal for nearly a full intake system.
