Perfect, easy replacement for the restrictive stock paper filter on a 2016 Subaru WRX. Start to finish, installation took about two minutes with no tools required — and this is my first time replacing an engine filter. The filter housing has two clamps that pop right off, and then the housing will open just far enough to replace the filter.
After about 13 months / 18k miles, the stock filter was dirty and clogged with leaves, dirt, and bugs. I noticed an instance difference after installing this K&N filter. I can’t vouch for a specific improvement in HP or fuel consumption yet, but it definitely feels like the engine has more pep. With the stock filter, switching into second gear at low revs had a sort of hiccup in power delivery, no matter how I engaged the clutch. With the K&N filter installed, that hiccup is gone! The power band feels consistent and slightly more powerful. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase.
Don’t pay a dealer to do replace your engine filter! They will charge anywhere from $70-$100 for a $15 paper filter that will only last a year or two. YouTube has plenty of helpful videos about how to install a filter on your make and model, and you’ll be happy to have a higher quality, reusable filter.

I have installed a K&N 33-2304 in both of my Subarus. First on a 2011 Legacy and install was pretty easy. The second just a few hours ago on a 2013 XV Crosstrek and it was even easier….learning curve I guess….I am no Mr. Goodwrench but for the Subaru applications the 33-2304 is really simple to install. On the Legacy I have about one month of experience. I am averaging about 3-5 miles more MPG on each tank. Also I noticed a small increase in pick-up. No a K&N air filter is not a “magic bullet” but if you are like me and drive your cars until they die, then the lifetime air filter pays for itself (given you can get them at ~$30 or so) after just a few air filter changes. You will also need to invest about ~$11 for a cleaning kit. Of course, that is not even considering the biggest savings and that is the improved gas mileage no matter how small…..I bought this last one under Amazon as a “Used-Like New” for a great price and the only not new about it was a box that was a bit beat up. I also bought a K&N for a 2005 Lexus ES330. Now that one was a real pain to install….

I’d read a bunch of reviews saying that these filters could do many a splendid thing, but I’m from Missouri and we like things proven. The biggest attraction of this filter, initially at least, was that it’s a lifetime filter that only needs to be cleaned every so often. Seeing as I’m tired of paying $15 for a replacement filter 1-2 times a year this sounded like a great idea, even if there was no discernible difference anywhere else. Once I wrestled the new filter into place I was anxious to try it out. I took off for about an hours’ worth of driving on a route I’m extremely familiar with and noticed a few things. 1. Power delivery is now a little smoother. The engine obviously isn’t working as hard as it was previously. 2. City driving hasn’t seen any real increase in efficiency. I’m sure if you grandma’d it you could probably squeeze out some mpg in stop/go traffic, but in a practical sense there’s no change for me. 3. On the interstate it’s a whole new ball game. Set the cruise control to 70mph like normal and I’m seeing an EASY 2.5mpg increase! My wife drives long distances on a regular basis for her job, and this little filter is just what the doctor ordered! I’m no math whiz, but if I’m correct it shouldn’t take any more than 9.5 tanks of that kind of improved efficiency to have the filter pay for itself. Pretty cool. But your results could vary.

Comprado para subaru legacy 2008, perfecto. No mejoró en nada el rendimiento o no se nota. Pero no tengo que limpiar tantas veces el filtro de aire.

Cumple lo esperado, encajó muy bien en una Forester 2022, la aceleración del motor se siente con mejor respuesta sobre todo en carretera. El rendimiento de gasolina en ciudad parece mejorar de una media de 9,5 Km/lt a 10 Km/lt, y en carretera de 10 km/lt a 11 Km/lt, aunque para ser realista necesitaría una prueba más controlada para validar si hay una mejora de rendimiento real., Me quedo sobre todo con la respuesta de aceleración del motor, se puede sentir en las respuestas para rebase, y aún en el arranque desde cero, no se vuelve un auto superdeportivo de ninguna manera, pero en definitiva hay una respuesta más viva del motor (algunos videos que encontré en la red medían ganancias en dinámetro de 5 a 7 hp por el uso del filtro k&n , quizás sea correcto) y se siente más suave su funcionamiento. El filtro de aire K&N es un producto recomendable definitivamente.

I bought the K&N air filter for my 2016 Subaru Outback with 2.5i engine and installed it on 7-21-2016. It fits perfectly- as mentioned by others the only way it fits in this car’s air box is to turn the filter 90 degrees so the filter slats are running vertically, not horizontally as it does on the OEM filter. The filter looks square but is not a perfect square. Build quality is much better and more solid than the flimsy OEM or aftermarket paper air filters. The deep side of the filter (air input) faces the front of the car which I installed into the front portion of the air box. I noticed right away that throttle response was better and much more immediate, and the engine sounds and runs more smoothly. After 2 weeks of having it installed acceleration and power have really improved. The lackluster acceleration was a drawback I’ve had with this car in exchange for good fuel economy, but I love everything else about it. After having had the K&N filter installed for 2 weeks acceleration has really improved to where I am very impressed and am having even more fun driving it. This is my fifth Subaru with the 2.5i engine. I was thinking my next Subaru would be with the 6 cylinder but no longer, thanks to this air filter. Apparently the engine computer system needs time to adjust to the increased air flow. This is not imagined on my part, power and speed have considerably improved, as well as smoother acceleration. Feels like power has increased by several horsepower. The car also idles at a lower RPM. I have not yet determined any increase in fuel economy- I’ve been having too much fun driving this car faster and harder than before. This filter really does great things for my car’s performance! Don’t hesitate to try it.

バイクでも有名な老舗メーカー、車用は安いですね｡汚れたら洗浄してメンテナンス用のオイルを塗布して再使用出来ます。吸気抵抗も少なくなる為汚れていた古いフィルターから交換の直後はアクセルの応答性が良くなり､本来のエンジンの性能を快復したと思います。燃費はスバル車なので気にするな!
交換は簡単(個人の感想です)吸気口からチラ見えするフィルターに気付く人は居ない｡持ち主の自己満を満たすアイテムです。付属のステッカーをさり気ないところに貼りましょう。
