This is my third pump in this ranger. They seem to last about three years or so. They are very cheaply made, even the oem ones. This time the fuel gage went out, but the pump works fine.
Now three years later I am buying another. Trading the truck in, so not the time to try a different brand. Changing the pump is a big deal. I have done it from underneath and that is a major PITA. This time I decided to pull the bed off. Two guys could do it easy, I used a tractor and boom pole. The pump then comes out easy. Still a process. But not on your back under the truck cussing like a teenager.
Now for the fun. This is the same pump, same vendor as before, except it’s two inches longer and will not fit. Can’t leave it open as it rains every afternoon here. Putting it back together and hoping that an exchange gets me the correct part nextime is a major waste of time. One from a local auto parts supplier is much more expensive.
The way the pump is made is that there are two guide rods and the pump head is spring loaded on them to press against the tank bottom. I pulled the shorter guide rods out of the old pump, easy to do. Now confident I can replace the rods in the new pump I attempt to remove them from the new pump. Nope! Different manufacturing process, it’s broken. Not accepting defeat, I took parts from the new one to fix the old one. That worked, yepeee. What an unnecessary waste of time and effort. This is the third order of auto parts in a row that had problems, after years of perfect fit every time. Amazon’s return policy is great but getting the right parts would be better.
Be prepared to mess with it, return it, or purchase locality. Not a fun job at best.

I finally got the time to put this in my 2000 Ford Expedition…. it only lasted not even a day…. it’s past the time to return so I’m out of a fuel pump.. looking somewhere else to try..

I ordered this fuel pump and installed it. It immediately threw a check engine light for the fuel level sensor. The pump itself worked perfectly but the sending unit was faulty first go. I was able to exchange it on Amazon and I replaced it again. So far the vehicle is running well without faults for a couple thousand miles now. Factory fitment and ease of installation.

Tengo una Ford escape 2008 v6 y quedó perfecta me marcaba en el tablero que la que tenía estaba dañada una ves fue puesta este que compré por aquí se eliminó el olor a gasolina y el del tablero se borró es perfecta la recomiendo 10 de 10 y el precio muy bueno espero me dure un par de años gracias
