The old ones were about 14 yrs old, not as strong, these did the trick and now the topper opens fully and easily.

I have a 50 pound hatch that hangs vertically. I wanted to swing it up about 90 degrees. I bought two 100 pound springs (advise from the internet). That should mean that they can push a total of 200 pounds. They don’t! I have tried repositioning them many times, but to no avail. The internet have given me formulas for positioning, but I didn’t know that I was so dumb until I tried to calculate the positioning of the struts. I now have a lot of screw holes and still cannot lift my hatch so that it stays up, or stays down! They do not come with instructions.
