I originally ordered these with a project in mind. I was pleased to see the fit was perfect and the look was what I wanted. After further inspection I realized the holder was lacking the strength and quality to be used where I planned. The materials used are lacking causing concern of the ability to hold the battery. It would work great if it had a supporting floor but that’s not how I planned to use it. I will find a use for it but it did not solve my issues for this project.

Check out the photos. I built a self contained, self powered, receiver hitch winch. I needed to the mount the battery above the winch, so I ordered this. I welded some cut up bed rails to the battery tray so I could attach it to the winch carriage holding tthe battery above the winch.
This metal is thin and quite flexible (it bends easily). I had to be a little careful welding it so it didn’t just burn away. The up side of the tray bending easily is, after welding the bed rail pieces to it, I could easily flex them in and out to attach to the winch carriage.
If you’re mounting it on a solid surface where you don’t need it to provide any strength, this is totally fine. You’ll love it.
If you need the tray to provide some phisical strength, this may not be appropriate for you. I’m using a LiFePO4 battery, which is much lighter weight than a lead-acid battery. By attaching all 4 corners I think it will be fine for my purpose. If it was a lead acid battery I’d have to be more careful with it. If it does fail, I’ll replace it with 4 more pieces of bed rail welded in a rectangle & just reuse the clamp-down part. But I’m not expecting to need to do that.
