I had been using a K&N filter on my car for more than 20-years without any issues.
Back in 2021, I changed out my intake manifold for a taller one. This meant I needed a shorter air filter element to clear the car’s hood. On April 14, 2021, I ordered this reusable cotton air filter element from JEGS because it was advertised as made in USA and it was much less expensive than the K&N equivalent. It was on backorder and didn’t ship until May 9, 2021. When it arrived a few days later, I examined it and it seemed comparable to the K&N filter other than the element being red. I oiled it up, installed it and everything seemed fine. This past weekend, I went to clean it for the first time (I don’t drive this car that much) and discovered the rubber seals had hardened and split as seen in the photos. This is, of course, very disappointing. JEGS claims this filter is made in the USA “with high quality components and assembly.” Being this was purchased three years ago, I have zero expectations of a warranty replacement, however, I feel it’s important to share my experience and evaluation of this product.
I tried to submit this review to JEGS but they didn’t approve it. Their customer service is otherwise excellent but I no longer trust their reviews.
