I like this product very much, long story short I was out of town and someone broke into hotel room stole my wife’s purse with my keys , anyway I thought I was going to have to get a new key programed for my truck, turns out it’s very simple to remove the old one and install the new one, works perfect (no need to program for 2004 Dodge ram) even though the dealer said it has to be programmed, just bring it in and we’ll take care of it they say, not true!!!! I recommend anyone to purchase this item if you’re in need of a new one

THE PLUNGER INSIDE THE END WOULDN’T MOVE ENOUGH TO TURN OFF THE CHIME.

My 2003, Dodge Ram 1500, SLT ignition key started locking up. Could not turn it. Could not move shift lever. The steering wheel too. Watched a video on YouTube to learn the problem was the ignition key cylinder. Watched another YouTube video that showed me how to replace it. Looked easy. Ordered this Amazon replacement. Worked just fine. Problem fixed. The video I watched told me I would need a torque tip,T-20, to remove the three screws on the bottom of the plastic clam shell. One screw is not so deep in the plastic that I was able to determine my screws were T-15. The other two are very deep in a narrow slot. Had to make a special trip down to the local automotive store to get a T-15, long, narrow shank tool. $7.50. Lastly, that black plastic lever that tilts the steering column will come off (on go back on) if you grab the end with a vise grip or heavy pliers and pull straight back to you as if you are sitting in the seat. Your truck may be different. Best of luck. This switch worked. I now have two keys: one for the door and one for ignition.

Install was easy, made just right, just spray some lubricant in the key cylinder so key slides easier and puts proper wear on it
