After installing this ignition the keys that came with it wouldn’t even turn in the ignition. Ended up having to pay a locksmith to come make a key that would work and that wasn’t cheap. I would have sent it back if it wouldn’t have been so hard to take back out.

ignition switch unit fit just fine. the keys sent with the unit had the incorrect chipset in them. the locksmith could not program the keys to the car. $50.00 to replace the chips in two keys. that on top of the cost to program the keys!

I installed this ignition switch lock cylinder assembly on my 2005 Honda CR-V, and everything works as it should. I reused the cylinder coil from my original setup, so I can’t comment on how well the provided keys work with the car. It’s important to note that the 2005 Honda CR-V uses a 3rd Gen immobilizer (IMMO) with a CODE 08, which requires an ID46 chip. The provided ID48 chip will not work. I kept my original immobilizer to avoid needing to reprogram my old key. Overall, the ignition switch assembly fit perfectly and functions well, just be aware of the chip compatibility if you’re planning to use the new keys. Note, you can buy the chip you need from Amazon. look up ID46 Car key chip or any type, they come out to being under $20 better than paying a dealer for a new chip. also the chip in the key is replaceable, just pop off the little window in the middle of the key.
