I was looking for something to help bleeding the Seastar hydraulic steering on boats. Bleeding a hydraulic cylinder is a messy & bothersome job but it must be done. This tool aided that process effectively. I also allowed me to have a visual reference of seeing or not seeing air bubbles in the clear bleed line. The brass fittings are of good quality and it as a good value for the purchase price. Will use again.

Worked perfectly with no leaks. I replaced and bled the fluid. Now my steering is functioning perfectly, no more play and rough steering. Highly recommend this quality product, well worth the price.

These kits are great. Anyone with a Seastar hydraulic steering unit on their outboard needs to have a kit like this. There are a number of tutorial videos available showing how to bleed your system. I strongly recommend the bubble purge method. This kit is well made with nice quality parts. I have another kit with the plastic nipple that attaches to the bottle and these brass fittings are much nicer. Also, this kit has a brass quick-release fitting for screwing into the helm. This is a great detail to have as you can screw it in firmly and the o-ring prevents leaking, and when you’re done the female quick-connect on the tube you have attached to the bottle seals and really cuts down on drips and leaks. One thing I would warn though is that you’ll get some drips when you remove the fitting from the helm as the nipple will be filled with fluid. Not a huge deal, just have a rag handy. Still less drips and spills overall than other kits I have. The only grip I have is that the collar of the brass fitting that attaches to the bottle has a couple grooves machined in it (I assume for traction) and the edges are really sharp. Other than that, great kit for the money.
