Really poor design. The conical nuts are impossible to tighten. You’d think if the mfg supplied a special nut, it would be sized to hold itself up under the channel. I’m sure I scratched the paint on the bottom side trying to get something to hold the nut so I could tighten the stud up top. They should have supplied a special plastic wrench that the nut would fit in, or a T shaped nut that would hold itself by wedging against the sides of the channel. I got one side on, the stud still moving but I can’t get the nut back off. Went to the other side and first thing, the nut slid of my finger and fell deep under the facia of the car. Since it’s aluminum I can’t fish it out with a magnet. So now I’ve got to pull a bunch of plastic from under the car to retrieve the nut. On a positive note.. the upper brackets are well made. And only one strut will hold the hood up but probably not securely in a wind. This kit could have been so much better. I regret the purchase

Seems to work well, but the struts are about 1/2″ too long. You can make them fit, but it’s a little difficult and it shouldn’t be. I’m sure the struts where not specifically made to fit 2024 Chevy Traxs and Buick Encores, but are almost the right length which leads to the difficult installation. The instructions are a little lacking. It’s obvious whoever wrote them didn’t speak or write English as their first language. Fortunately, he pictures fill in the gaps and the comments from other buyers helped a good bit. Be sure to read them before you start your installation. In the end, the struts do lift and hold the hood to my 2024 Trax up very well. That’s why I gave this 4 stars instead of a 3.

Product works like it should, purchased for a 2024 Trax RS. Instructions could be a wee bit better, but between reviewer photos/videos, I got the gist of of. Definitely lay down a towel in case you drop a bolt. What I found easier for me, installing solo, was to take the hood off the prop rod to be able to push the hood back as far as possible. The struts will be about a half inch too long to snap into place easily, so I turned the bottom connector (the end that attaches to the body of the car) half way, with the ball joint hole facing the engine. As I pushed the end onto the ball joint, the connector end pretty much rolled up the side of the ball and from there it was easy to push it down onto the ball joint. Took me less than 10 minutes!

Took me longer to find my 13mm deep socket than the install. The conical nuts are a little funky but installed them like the picture and they work. You need to lift the hood a little farther than it wants to in order for the struts to snap in. If you do just enough to get them to fit you won’t damage anything.

Installation is very easy a 8 year old child could do it, but…..
I am currently waiting on Tech support to email me about not being able to attach shock to fender support ball due to length of shock being about one inch longer and can’t compress shock nor do i want to as that will put unnecessary force on the already maxed out hood hinge….
We shall see what customer support has to say and i will report back!
