This cap creates a positive seal on the gas tank filler tube. It eliminated the Check Engine light on it’s own in less than a week.

My check engine light came on for my 2003 accord. Code said loose gas cap. I got a cheaper one from auto zone but that one didn’t work. This one did.

My engine light came on and I was hoping this would be a cheap solution to the issue. It did work but It did take about 8 days for my Honda Accord 2004 engine light to turn off.
But hey it worked

My check engine light kept coming on even after I bought two different gas caps from the auto parts store. I finally bought this original Honda cap and drove 5 miles and then the light came off. This cost more ($35 versus $10 replacements) but it is original and it works! Seeing it and touching it I could tell this was better quality than the non OEM ones.

This was an exact match. It is a factory replacement for the cap on my 03′ Accord…same part number…very hard to find.
Zounds –
My 2004 accord started throwing P0442s with increasing frequency for the past few years. Tightening the cap worked until it didn’t.
I decided to try replacing the cap before taking it to the shop. My first try involved a $14 cap picked up at chain auto parts store. Success! The code vanished!
A few weeks later it came back.
Ok, let’s try the OEM part before I capitulate and take it to a pro. The CIL went dark and stayed that way for the last seven months since installing it.
I’m guessing the problem is solved.

THE NEW GAS CAP ELIMITINATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ACTIVATION
