Make you a favor, assembly before the installation. You will need a long extension, a long extension 6 inch approx and universal union to make it easy. I installed it in 15 minutes. Nice upgrade, works perfect. See the pictures in the reviews, there are not instructions included.

I installed these myself in less than an hour. No drilling, they use stock bolts. I don’t like the way the brackets turn because they are only held in by 1 bolt, but they seem to work fine.

1) No documentation included; only separate parts.
2) One strut was defective. Housing and rod were loose and produced grinding sound towards end of lifting stroke. The other strut operated as expected.
3) Strut pressure seems high as outer, back edge of hood misaligns when closed.
4) Assembled and installed parts correctly with no interference or binding.
Like the concept, but highly disappointed with product quality and operation.

These struts look and work great on my 2022 RAV4 XSE Hybrid. After reading the reviews, I was concerned about issues with the installation so I took it slowly and triple checked the fit of everything. There are no instructions with the product. If you are in doubt about installing, I recommend having the struts installed by someone who is mechanically inclined since it is possible to misalign the hood if these struts are installed wrong. Take your time and check/re-check for restrictions while closing the hood slowly. I put multipurpose synthetic grease in the ball joints of the struts to reduce metal wear and squeaks. Tip: install the struts in the correct direction; that is, look at the seller’s pictures showing the fat part of strut on top. Be careful not to drop the clip springs while working over the engine. I put the strut assemblies together away from the engine compartment before installing them using the bolts. I used a 12mm socket with 8″ flexible extension and ratchet, and an 12mm open end wrench. Good luck.

These hood struts are great. They make things look cleaner, more refined and make it easier to do work in the engine bay. Unfortunately the first set I bought stopped holding the hood open just two months in. The fluid in the piston must have leaked out. I reached out to High Flying and they sent me a replacement set no questions asked. The second set has lasted over a year now with no issue. I’m very happy with the product and the great customer service.

The hood struts work. However they bring the hood up a llittle bit too fast, maybe they will slow down after being used for a while. The installation took a little more time than expected because the top ball joint for the left side has the holes for the wire clip on the inside. I improvised by removng the pin, temporarily installing and adjusting the length of the strut to the exact length needed. I then removed the plate and strut and install the pin. Next I bolted the plate back in place to complete the installation. I hope this explanation helps some one who may be having the same problem.

Same brand as my side view mirror signal lights which worked out well so I took a chance on this despite mixed reviews. Can confirm, it works well for my 2023 XLE Rav 4 Premium. 20 minutes install.

How to install:
Need a 12mm. socket. Videos say to use extension but I found it easier to have no extension.
Get a flashlight, bottom screw is in a tight area so be careful, otherwise you will need a pole magnet just in case you drop the screw-you do not want to have this happen.
Punch in Google- “how to install 2022 Rav 4 hood struts” this video should be good for 2019-2023 Rav 4’s.
Pay attention to how the pieces are oriented (they have to be in a specific direction and position)
I see many pics showing the thin part of the strut is up but I think it should be thick side up-just my opinion.
