The OEM cable has two “flats” in the threads to allow it to be inserted into the steel bracket that it fastens to at the transmission and under the dash at the shifter. Polaris decided to make the slot that it fits in with a keyhole shape, meaning the opening at the edge of the steel plate is smaller than the actual diameter of the threaded fitting. I even tried to use a deburring grinder to open up the one under the dash, which was a big PITA. After about 10 minutes of messing with it, I said **** this!, and decided to return it. I’m not paying good money to then have to modify my ranger so that this aftermarket part can fit. Polaris wants $120 for their cable, which is ridiculous. But if Dudubuy is going to sell parts and state in their ad that it will fit a 2005 Ranger 500 4×4, they better do their homework and find out exactly what it takes to fit one on the rig. I’m not going to pay for something and then have to do extra work, especially grinding up my toys. I just wonder how many of these have been sent back due to this oversight by whoever manufactured this part. Kind of makes it clear that buying from a seller named Dudu isn’t a good idea. It’s dog dudu.

Worked good on 2004 ranger
Brett –
right cable for the quad and they shipped the cable fast. Great purchase.
Rocky Hyder –
This cable fit a 2005 Polaris ranger perfectly. Just FYI, you have to remove the back nut to insert the adjustment bolt into the factory bracket at the shift lever and the transmission.
Kirk –
So far working as it should.
Dan Niksich –
Installed on a 2004 Polaris Ranger 6×6 and it fit perfect. And was a lot cheaper than a Polaris part and seems to be great quality. Time will tell but I think it’s gonna last.
Sue F –
This shift cable fit right on, no problems. It shifts smoothly and seems to be decent enough quality I hope it lasts.
Melissa Bonnow –
Works and fits like an oem part.
