I used this for other than what it was intended for. I cut in half so I would have to power supply cords for a couple of 12 volt devices. These are heavier duty than most. It also comes with a couple of spare fuses in a pouch attached to the cord. NICE TOUCH!

Based on the reviews I could see that people were happy with this 12v cigarette plug and and that helped me make my decision. I was looking for something greater than 16AWG wire and was pleased that this is 14AWG. But one other thing that makes this a good 12v plug is the holding tension on the sides (ground connection) that keeps it in place and from coming electrically disconnected at the tip. I did one slight modification to this cable in order to assure that it doesn’t come lose and that is that I removed the smaller spring that sits inside the larger spring. I felt that the spring tension in the tip was just a little too much.
You see, what needs to happen in order for a 12v cigarette plug to stay in place and connected to power………..is that the tension on the sides needs to be greater than the spring tension on the tip of the plug. If the tension on the tip of the plug is greater, then over time it pushes away from its contact disconnecting power. Now I am very pleased with this cable. I cut the cable in half and soldered different connectors on the ends which matches my solar charging gear and gives me the option to charge via the cigarette lighter outlet.

Good length, does the trick, quality isn’t bad but could be better. One of the ends cracker while in the truck. It’s a cheaper plastic.

Heaviest gauge wire I could find! Use it to run an inverter in the work truck to charge tools and laptop, other smaller gauge items were not allowing enough current to pass to charge tool batteries without excessive voltage drop. As an FYI, I bought the double ended version to cut it in half and use for two separate inverters in two separate trucks!

Instead of buying wire, plug and assembling myself, I purchased this and cut it in half and made power supply cables for a two way radio. Quality plug, quality cable, no complaints. Higher current capability than cheaper cables or plugs.

Arrived ahead of schedule. I wanted something that would make a solid connection and not vibrate and/or work it’s way loose. 5 stars plus! This was purchased with the intention of cutting the wire to make two individual plugs with pigtails. Works perfect.

My pellet smoker’s 12v power supply plugs started to rust because I failed to disconnect all of the components after smoking during damp weather several times, and eventually caused enough power loss to stop the smoker from working correctly. This extension works great and has no trouble providing enough power for my Green Mountain Grills smoker to be back in action at 100%!

Haven’t tried this under heavy load yet (just low-to-moderate load), but it appears well constructed and fits properly making good contact in the receptacle. Nice to see a properly sized and built product for 12V DC applications, as most use wire that is too small and/or plugs that don’t fit well / are cheap.
