Use this on my Kawasaki Z125pro works like a charm! Really does gather up a bunch of loose metal particles when time to change oil ,solid sturdy bolt had it for couple years now still going good.Definitely is a strong little magnet to.Recommend getting one ,especially if what you got is new.

I bought this magnetic oil drain plug for my 2009 Honda Rebel motorcycle after I got it with just 1,800 miles on it. This motorcycle does not have an oil filter, so I figured that this plug was a must. I installed the GoldPlug along with Shell Rotella T6 Synthetic motor oil at 2100 miles. I just changed the oil for the first time since with about 2,000 miles on the oil. All I can say is WOW!!! There was a big gob of black metallic paste stuck to the magnet! I am so glad I didn’t have that material circulating though my engine all this time causing wear. I would say that the GoldPlug has paid for itself already. It is very well made and I’m sure that it will last at least as long as the Honda that it’s protecting… Many, many more miles to go! This is the best <$20 insurance policy that you can buy to protect the engines that power your life.

Fits a 2025 Yamaha XT250! Pics of OEM plug & GoldPlug side by side for reference. GoldPlug machining seems to be top-notch. I reused the OEM copper washer as it was in perfect shape. I installed this on the very first oil change :).

These Gold Plugs are absolutely fantastic. First, let me say that I’m not affiliated with Gold Plug, nor have I been compensated by them with money or free products. I’m just writing some glowing praise and a review for anyone that is considering purchasing one of these for their cars or motorcycles. I purchased several of these for my motorcycles and scooters earlier this year. After my most recent oil change in my motorcycle, I’m a believer (see the attached pictures and video for proof).

I installed this magnetic drain bolt in a 2008 Yamaha XT250. This motorcycle has always been maintained very well, and the oil has been changed every 1500-2000 miles like clockwork with high quality synthetic… this stuff –> Castrol 06116 Power1 V-Twin 20W-50 Synthetic 4T Motorcycle Oil – 1 Quart Bottle, (Pack of 6). The Gold Plug MP-01 was installed at 14500 miles with a fresh oil and filter change. I changed the oil again today (12/27/2016) at 16500 miles and the magnet was completely covered in ferrous metal sludge. I was shocked at what was captured by the magnet. Some of the particles weren’t just microscopic shavings… they were significant enough to be splinters that you wouldn’t want to get stuck in your finger. I can’t imagine what has been circulating around in the sump and NOT being captured by the oil filters over the past 14500 miles!

Luckily, I have already installed Gold Plugs in several newer bikes in the garage, so I don’t have to worry about them as much. Now I will be purchasing Gold Plugs for for my cars, too!

I liked that the shipping was fast and the product actually works. Not junk there good quality. Picked up alot of wear from break in of the engine components

I haven’t read the other reviews but they probably sound like what I was thinking of writing:
    It’s a plug.
    It’s magnetic.
    Looks good!
I will add that based on the oil change frequency of my 125 (and the lack of an oil filter) the price of this is not that painful.
I’ll never buy a filter and this will prevent metallic gunk from getting circulated onto every bearing surface, kinda like a filter!
Obviously not a perfect solution, but something is better than nothing.

(photo from first 600 mile oil change. I put the mag plug on within the first 50 miles)

Magnet is very strong and perfect fit. I won’t buy anything but these for my vehicles

  9. Kyryll S.

Strong magnet, high quality steel, great fit.

  10. DR

Bought for a generator. Works well, caught lots of metal shavings on my break-in runs. Different bolt size than original plug, but I had the right socket. The magnet is strong (I used it as a refrigerator magnet for a few days 🙂 and I like that the magnet completely fills its hole in the plug, so nothing can cake up around it.
