I wanted the genuine GM part. If you can live with aftermarket, you can get an entire distributor with module for less.

I previously purchased an aftermarket ignition control module for slightly more than the $51 I paid for this OEM part. The aftermarket part failed shortly after installation. However, over 1.5 weeks later I am delighted that this OEM AC Delco D1943A ignition control module works great!. The stalling problems when the engine was warm on my 1993 Chevrolet Silverado C2500 7.4L are now repaired with this module. Also the delivery was very prompt. Thank you Amazon.

I have a 94 GMC and when the ignition module goes out a spare will keep the need for a tow truck to zero. I have been stuck once and learned the hard way. I change mine every so often just to avoid any issues.

So good so far. Was getting trouble codes 42 and 44 on a 1988 Chevy 5.7L Pickup. It was also noticeably missing at highway speeds and was lacking power. Between this and the $14 ACDelco O2 sensor I got on Amazon, they did the trick and the truck runs a LOT better. Trouble codes gone. NOTE: I bought an ignition module for about the same price at an auto parts store and it failed within 20 minutes of driving. Even though I had to wait two days to get it, this ACDelco unit it worth the money and it has been installed now for 6 months.

A prior owner had installed an ignition control module from a different manufacturer. Needless to say, I was having some running problems with the vehicle, which made me replace this component as a general “reset tune-up” of my ancient Chevy’s ignition system. I replaced wires, this module, cap, rotor and plugs with all AC Delco components. I discovered that I cracked a plug when I allowed a timing light to get caught in the fan blade (this was, perhaps, not my best moment in the garage) and had put back my distributor a tooth off when replacing my oil pressure sender.
Ho hum….
Anyway, my truck had a hodgepodge of odd parts on it – BWD (I believe this is Borg-Warner stuff, sold at O’Reilly’s), Autolite (!) plugs, some unknown wire set, BWD cap and rotor. In replacing all these components, and most especially the cracked #1 plug, I was successful in making my truck run literally like a new vehicle.
Lesson? Be careful when you’re working on your stuff that you don’t introduce three screwups for everything beneficial you do, and use AC Delco stuff on these old Chevys as they are sensitive to the careless engineering of other parts makers.

I replaced the cheap Chinese ignition control module that came with a “Performance” distributor from Amazon, immediately I noticed a smoother idle and better response. 1989 Chevrolet C3500 7.4. Just be sure to use the correct contact compound. I used a liberal amount of CPU thermal paste. Works better than the small amount that come with the unit.
