The Saturn Vue is a fantastic vehicle but one of its minor flaws is that this part can break. Quick and easy repair you can do it yourself.

2004 Saturn Vue with 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission.
The bushing is known to wear out over time causing looseness in the shifter or making it harder to put into gear.
1. Make sure you note how much of or how many threads on the cable end are sticking out before removing the old one. You can see through the little “window” on the piece.
2. If you find a bunch of graphite looking stuff at the base of the shifter then you also need new cables. This may get you going again in a pinch but if the graphite shavings are all over the base of the shifter mount right underneath the cable/s then you need the cable set also.

Great delivery time and it fit the car. According to most websites this part in the Saturn goes out around 90K. I’m glad I could find the part on Amazon. Great price my dealer wanted over 300 to fix the part. But it was an easy fix. .
So far it worked pretty well and has a lot of features. Got it for the code and it’s different from the one the seller told me it was. –
5 stars!! Worked just like it was supposed to. Used it on my 2003 Saturn Vue and easy as pie I had my car fixed in 20 minutes! Saved me hundreds of dollars from a garage price and anyone can install it with a Phillips head screwdriver.

Took me about 15 minutes to replace the old lever. After changing it, it work as if nothing had changed.

Fixed my problem. Broken part between shifter and cable. Kinda pricey for such a small part but I don’t think you can find it cheaper.

After Shifter cable came lose. Road Service guy was able to get shifter working again but days later would not go into reverse. Left at dealer .. got a $1100 quote to replace shifter cables… after a week they told me it wasn’t the cables after all and just needed to replace this part on the ‘black’ (up/down) cable. For that they only charged me $650 ($600 labor/taxes $50 part)…. at least it seems to work now…

Once I realized this was my problem, I was appalled it was not available at any part shops. However it took me 5 min to install; Insanely easy to do. Any issues just YouTube up the shift cable bushing. My old one practically exploded so i had no idea where the threads should go. I just matched it to the white one and it’s fine. Really easy shifting now. 04 vue
