It fits. It works. It works like the one I lost when I left on top of my car at the gas station – I forgot to put it back at a fill-up and drove away. (I remembered it later when I saw my car’s gas flap open and it was nowhere to be found when I returned to the gas station later). Anyhow, I ordered this one that same night because I had a smog test coming up in a few days. You gotta have a fuel tank cap to pass and it must meet the pressure test to pass. THIS CAP (and my car) PASSED.
I have two complaints, neither of which is the seller’s responsibility:
1. This cap doesn’t have a tether or a hole to put a tether. Should be easy enough, but alas none.
2. When I inquired by email to the manufacturer (Gates) as to whether I could put a hole of my own in the handle without compromising the pressure-ability, I did NOT get a response.

Fits great and (as anticipated) resolved P0455 small evap leak trouble code.
This generation has a habit of throwing the code when the gasket starts to crack. Make sure with all gas caps to turn in so it clicks a few times when replacing the cap. Sure, doesn’t have the plastic dangle to avoid losing the cap. It’s the good old days of hanging the cap on the metal tong on the cover door (alternatively, leave it on the top of your favorite gas pump by accident). Remember, if you get the code it could be other things so check that gasket but keep an open mind about having more than one fault in the system and codes either need to be cleared with a scanner or wait for a few driving cycles and computer should clear it from the dash notification, although it’ll be stored in memory until cleared.

I got the gas cap warning on my cars dash. I was going to go to one of the big places to get one, you know, Auto Zone, O’Reilly, places like that. But I look here and found it for way cheaper. I thought hmmm. Ok let’s try this. It’ll only be a 2-3 day wait. I got it popped it on and it fit perfectly and the dash warning went away! So all in all this is a great product.
Super easy to install, super easy to order; just have Amazon save your cars make and model and they do the rest! Works like the higher end brands for a fraction of the price. Absolutely would recommend.

My old gas cap might have been the original. It was giving me so many engine code errors that I thought something was very wrong with my engine. Consulted youtube and learned a leaky gas cap could cause all of the error codes.
I removed the old gas cap from the plastic retainer. You know, the thing that ensures you don’t leave your gas cap somewhere. I put the new gas cap in the freezer for an hour and then forced the plastic loop around the top. It was difficult.
The good news is five of the six error codes were fixed by installing this cap!

This was the second replacement gas cap I bought for my Ion, and I wish it had been the first. This one fits much better than the Chinese junk I purchased first. I like that it doesn’t have a leash to get in the way.

I got this for my ’04 Trailblazer, since the seal on the original was worn out and the emissions reader kept throwing an engine light for it. Once this new cap was in instead of the old one, I had no more issues with that code for the rest of the time that I had the car.

The media could not be loaded.
My check engine light came on. After scanning my car there was a warning about gasoline emissions. Someone CUT the fuel tank cap out of my Oldsmobile (I didn’t leave it accidentally). I looked in my car owners manual what type of fuel tank cap & ended up ordering this due to the price and the similar look to my old gas cap. The cap is a cheaper, more lightweight plastic than expected but that doesn’t stop this gas cap from doing its job.
Pros: No more check engine light!
It certainly holds a tight seal.
Cons: It was a little difficult to unscrew. Tip: I greased the cap so it would come off easier.
I also made the mistake of thinking I needed to “push” the cap in as I turned it to remove it, as I had to with my original cap. WRONG! A gentle twist to the left did it. Whoops! I can even open it with my wimpy left hand!
Long story short, this gas cap serves its purpose and keeps my car from losing gas!
