I received six assorted relay-testers in a cardboard box. the relays aren’t labelled, but its easy enough to examine the removed relay and select the appropriate tester. once the tester is installed, the switch on the top controls the circuit under test, making it easier to troubleshoot various problems.
in my case i was trying to track down a fuel pressure problem. before i got the testers i would have used key to turn on and off the fuel pump, and without the car running the pump wouldn’t run continuously. with the tester installed in place of the fuel pump relay, i have direct control of the pump and can turn it on and off at will, from under the hood. I no longer need a helper to turn on and off the ignition switch from the driver’s seat.

There are times when working on cars, that you want a specific relay to turn on, in order to test the operation of the device that’s being controlled by the relay. That is when these fuel pump relay bypass modules are so handy! The kit comes with six different sizes, to hopefully have one that matches the relay in your vehicle that you want to test. Pull out the relay and then insert one of these testers into the slot. Each device has a rocker switch on it, letting you simulate that the relay is either on or off, so you can test the device connected to the output. Although they are marketed as a fuel pump tester, they work great to test electric fans and even vehicle lighting. I like all of the different sizes that it includes.
