I purchased this and didn’t install it right away. The problem with my old one is only that the tether broke.
One thing, the new one doesn’t come with the fastener for the tether, the original fastener broke when I removed it, so I would recommend having a zip tie to attach the tether.
After a few trips with the new cap my check engine light illuminated. Since that was the one thing different, I knew right away it was due to the cap. Still, I gave it a chance, tightened the cap, and the next fill up, I cranked it down extra clicks, and even removed and replaced it a couple times to give it the best possible seal. Didn’t work, I put the old cap back on, and the lights went out after a few trips.
I suspect the gasket material is just too hard, and it just doesn’t accomplish a good seal. Maybe it is older stock? Really don’t know, and yet I observed that the seal is more pliable on my old cap, and feels quite stiff on the new one.
This is just my experience, hopefully others have better experiences.

A few days after I put it on, I got a warning code on the dash. Said large evaporative leak. Went to the shop and was told I needed the proper gas cap. I put my old cap back on for now. Reset the code and the code has not come back since
