I live in a city with a lot of industrial pollution, so I want the carbon filter to absorb odors that can’t be filtered out. This one apparently has baking soda, too. The filter came sealed in a plastic bag, and this is important because the carbon can only absorb a finite amount of contaminants and it absorbs whatever it is exposed to, starting when it is manufactured. The Bosch carbon filter I used last time was not sealed, and I don’t know how much of the carbon was used up before I bought it. This filter fit very well. It doesn’t seem to restrict the intake of outside air. It may matter to you that this filter is made in China. I hope that Fram is monitoring to be sure the filters don’t contain lead, mercury, melanine, sulfur, radioactive waste or whatever the Chinese need to get rid of.

Fits 2003 VW Passat Wagon V6 GLX correctly. The replacement process was quite easy. I highly recommend sanitizing the cabin air intake with Lysol aerosol spray to remove the musty odor created by mildew and kill germs that could be in the air vents. A simple process of running the AC, in manual mode, with the fan in full blast for several minutes. After removing the old filter, simply spray the intake with Lysol for about 30secs while keeping the fan running. Don’t forget to open all windows and trunk lid to allow proper venting. Install new filter following the directional flow as indicated on the side of the filter. Arrow should be pointed down. I can’t really say that the filter is doing a great job after replacement. However, between sanitizing, and the embedded granulated activated carbon on the filter, it’s safe to say that my cabin air will certainly smell fresh, and new.

FRAM CF8644A Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter –
I have a 2002 Jetta Wagon TDI and needed to replace the cabin filter. I tried this filter because it has a rebate on it and would make the final coast around 7 US dollars. I opened the box and the new cabin filter was sealed in plastic. I am not an expect but have been told that charcoal filters start losing it’s ability to filter properly if it isn’t sealed? Don’t know if true but letting you all know it was sealed in plastic. I replaced the filter, didn’t even look at the instructions, very quickly. It took only 15 minutes and I now have a new cabin filter installed. It does have good instructions that come with it if you had never exchanged a filter out before. If you never have, try it, you will save you some cash from paying someone to do it.

Its a cabin air filter. It works well
I have used slightly less expensive ones. This one is worth the extra $1-5 over cheaper ones. It did fit better, and does help with odors. It is a much more substantial filter than the cheaper ones.

Perfect fit for 2002 VW Beetle TDI. Easy swapout after watching one of many videos on Youtube. Benefit of fresh filtered air.

I bought this for my 2001 Jetta Sport wagon GLX. It fit perfectly. I watched a youtube video and I installed it in 5 minutes with only a phillips screwdriver. I had never done it before and I’m a woman so, replacing this is uber easy for anyone. My mechanic quoted me $60. to replace this. I did it for the cost of this filter, $18.52 incl. tax. The filter I took out was dirty but not as dirty as I expected. It did say it was made in Germany so when I took the new one out of the box and it said made in China, I was a little disheartened. But, it fit in exactly as the old one and we’ll see if it works in a noticeable way. I’m not really sure I’ll notice a difference but I guess these cabin air filters do help. Anything would be better than nothing. I don’t expect anything to go wrong with this item so, I’m happy with my purchase.

Installed this on a 2002 VW jetta 2.0 manual. Be gentle with the rain tray when installing this. Those rain trays are very fragile plastic and crack if you stare at them the wrong way.
Good price as Autozone was almost double the price. I couldn’t justify buying the cheap basic filter from Autozone when I could buy this online for same price and it’s a better quality filter. The build on it is better than the standard version. If you go to Autozone you can see it in person and compare the 2 filters. You will see right away this is better quality.

After installing this cabin air filter I noticed the air flow from my car’s AC vents was reduced by quite a bit. Took the car into the dealership thinking there was something wrong with my AC system only to have them tell me my newly installed cabin air filter was too thick. I’ll let you reach whatever conclusion you want, the filter fit in terms of dimensions, but the material used to filter the air was deemed too thick according to OEM guidelines for my vehicle.
