Had I realized how easy these are to replace (in most newer cars at least), I would have done this sooo much sooner. The final result is a cleaner fresher smelling car and better air flow which means the car cools down faster just in time for summer. yippee! On our 2007 Mazda 6 (the vehicle this particular filter was for) and our 2008 Toyota Sienna, the entire time to remove the old filter and put the new one in was under 10 minutes and required no tools. Our 2001 Saab 95, on the other hand, took a couple hour to swap the filters – still worth it.

I have an 04 Mazda 6s, and this filter is a perfect fit. My only complaint is that the air flow direction arrow on my product points in the wrong direction. The filter I removed (which was installed correctly, as I found out through subsequent internet research) had the air flow arrow pointing down, and the strip that runs down the middle of the filter was located on the bottom side of the filter (the side shown in the pictures). The filter I received had the arrow pointing in the opposite direction. I installed the unit as the previous one had been installed, ignoring the arrow, and it has been great so far. The job took twice as long as a result of this confusion, but still only took 15 minutes. My vents definitely smell nice and fresh, and I have no problem recommending this product to fellow Mazda 6 owners as an affordable upgrade to the standard filters.

As others have said, this product will not fit the 06-07 speed6 or cx-7. The product is fine, the guide should have been updated.

I have a Mazda 6 Sport Wagon. The Amazon fit search thing worked fine. It fits fine.
So I don’t know about the fit issues other Mazda models and owners have had here. Needless to say, the NEWER a car, you are better sticking with the dealer (I did for the first replacement I made). But as a car gets old, third party parts like this filter become a better and more affordable option. So maybe those 2009+ cars might go to the dealer and, also, make sure they enter the correct model, year, engine, etc. in the parts filter here!
The Fram looks the same as more costly Mazda filter from dealer. It has activated charcoal in it which, I can’t smell which, makes sense.
I drove through some diesel fumes with the old filter and later with the new and, it still stunk. So, it is very basic which is about what I would expect. Mostly just pollen and dirt but not odors or gases that are super strong. Maybe more subtle odors like living near the fish market or a stinky restaurant, this could help. It might also be more for IN cabin odor control. SBDs, diapers, that fast food container you left under the seat, etc.
Eventually activated charcoal will not work anymore. So, depending on age and how much you use the AC or heat, it will loose any deodorizing it might have.
The Mazda 6 manual says to change the filter every 25,000 miles. But I’ve changed mine twice and, I think 15-20,000 max is more realistic if you park outside and live in a city or dirty air area (dirt roads). I do and I am a low miles driver (per year). If you drive 15-20K+ miles a year and go from a garage in a clean area to a parking garage in a clean area with a short commute, 25,000 is fine. But I think most will want to change at 20K.

The filter fits fine in my 2005 Mazda 6i (4 cylinder). I haven’t noticed any real differences compared to the one this unit replaced. The filter I pulled out was pretty horrible though. It’s a cabin filter, it does what it’s meant to do, and it’s reasonably priced.
