Like most things aftermarket I feel the product is cheaply made. The key is cut on both sides but only works in One Direction if it don’t work have to turn the key around. Part 2 of this review. This thing is Junk yesterday it was trouble turning. Going ti toss it and get a better made part

Was fast to install and works …seems more robust of a lock since new key is thicker than 1999 key…one thing new key is round and old key is square but thats fine to clearly know a door key or the new ignition key in the dark

To start, my only issue is that the keys are the larger round keys, the same as my factory keys. I was hoping to get the keys in the picture, so I could easily tell the difference, since I will still need my old key to unlock the doors.
My 2000 Jeep Cherokee ignition started getting sticky and harder to get unlocked, so I switched to the spare key, which helped for a bit. One day, luckily I was at my house, the key wouldn’t turn at all, no matter how hard I tried. Wd-40, banging on it, pliers, ect. No luck.
Unfortunately my windows were all the way down. Luckily weather has been nice, but this lock cylinder came in the night before 100% chance of rain.
Works great, but you will have a tough time getting the old one out, if it is locked up like mine. It has a little tab on the side, that holds the cylinder in place, and can only be depressed when the key is turned from the lock position.
So more banging, wd40, cursing, taking apart unnecessary things, ect.
The pliers finally did the trick. I had to break off the metal cap, where the key goes in, so I could get a grip on the actual turning part. Then, with the key in, I was able to use the pliers to forcefully break the cylinder free, depress the little tab with a small screw driver, and slide the cylinder out.
Bonus hint: if you take the shift lock assembly apart, from the bottom of the cylinder, like I did, there is a spring, and a very small metal piece inside that will fall out. The metal piece on mine almost fell right into the shift gate for the 4×4, which would have been super fun to find. Also you will need security torx bits to take that off. I luckily had some in a bit set, but it took some digging around, and luckily it was the smallest size I had. I probably didn’t need to take that apart, but I was trying everything to get the cylinder out. In hindsight, the shiftlock may have depressed the little tab for me, once I got the cylinder unlocked. Seems like pressing the shift button, on the shifter, might depress the little tab.
Good luck with all your ignition issues! One great thing about owning a 2000 Jeep, is that this issue cost $20 to fix. On a newer car, you would need keys programmed, laser cut keys, ect.

It works.

Feels like it’s jamming constantly

no problems, easy fit and has been working fine, i will say though this is my third one in about ten years (not from this manufacturer or seller) the non OEM just seem to start getting tight after a while and hard to use.

Had a cylinder go bad and had to hammer it out with a screw driver. Ordered this and took it out of the box, it has the newer oval key like on the Jeep liberty. Idc it works, took me 3 min to change, def recommend

It works ok but the keys are really rough. Took a wire wheel to smooth them out a bit. The action is still not at all smooth. Next time I will invest in a better cylinder.
