I bought this auto changeover valve to replace what I guess was the original valve on my 2005 Coachmen Capri 29FKS travel trailer. So far I am impressed with this valve. I have had one tank in primary mode and removed the secondary tank to have it refilled. My primary tank has not emptied yet so I can’t yet comment on the auto changeover feature or the primary tank low pressure indicator window function. One thing I will note is that my setup is a standard two tank setup on the tongue of a travel trailer with two 30 pound propane tanks covered with a plastic weather shield. The original valve had the low primary pressure indicator on top of the valve where it was visible when the access panel was opened on top of the propane tank weather shield. This new valve does not have a top indicator. The indicator is on the face of the valve and it will take a mirror to see it properly without removing the weather shield from the tanks. I knew this from the reviews by other purchasers and also from the pictures of the product, but the price was really good compared to some other models so I figured I’d try it out. This is a relatively early review in that the valve has only been installed for about 3 weeks, but I am happy with it so far. My valve did come with a bracket attached to it with one hole at the top which slides over the center hold down rod in the tank assembly. I believe my previous, original valve had a bracket with two holes (top and bottom) but this one hole setup is working fine. I put the horizontal tank hold-down bar in place, then slide the new valve mounting bracket hole onto the rod and finally spin the hold down nut assembly on the top. I did also purchase two new pigtail hoses that connect to the tanks with acme connectors and connect to this new valve with the flare fittings. With the original valve and hoses I had smelled propane tracer in the access panel of the propane tank shield which was probably due to the original hoses failing but I figured at this price the valve replacement would be a good idea to do, too.

This valve easily replaced my original, manual valve. I didn’t want to run out of gas in the middle of the night, so I bought this valve to switch to the reserve tank automatically. It worked great. When the supply tank was completely empty it automatically switched to the reserve tank. It also turned the indicator window red so I could see the supply tank was empty. This was a worthwhile purchase.

I bought this regulator to replace another of a different brand that I had replaced a year ago that started leaking. I wanted to try a different brand and style in hopes I don’t have to replace another leaking regulator.
This regulator was very easy to install and it came with the thread lock tape to make installation easy and leak free. After installing the two pigtail connectors for the two 30LB propane tanks I connected the trailer hose to the bottom of the regulator using the same teflon tape.
I used some soapy water to check all my connections for leaks and there were none.
So far I am happy with this regulator and hope that I can get many trouble free years out of it.

Great propane, automatic switch valve

The plastic cover came broken but the rest (or the main functioning part) was fine so really, nothing real negative. Shipping was REAL quick and it seems to work fine (time will tell). I did have to mount it different than the one I had because if the ‘eye’ didn’t face forward, you can’t see if it’s red or green. So, I had to revise the mounting bracket to face forward to I could see the eye.

Very easy to install and seems very beefy. I wish the outlet was larger than 3/8 because I had to buy an adapter to fit it to my 3/4 supply hose. If you are running 100lb tanks buy this without the pigtails and purchase these for a direct fit:
MCAMPAS Auto Changeover Regulator Copper Pigtail POL x 1/4″ Inverted Male Flare 15″ Long
This is much better that trying to remove the permanent inlet fittings that are not intended to be removed. Also I don’t want to worry about hose degradation from the elements and these copper pigtails last forever. My system is working flawlessly so far and I’m happy with the results. The BTU output on this was higher than most and that was a worry for me because I’m running 2 generators off of it simultaneously.

I have two 100lb propane tanks outside my house that I use for my fireplace and my stove. I hate when a tank runs out and you hook up a full tank you have to bleed the air out of the line for what seems like a year. So enter this handy thing.
Previously I had a different unit and after 2 years it started leaking propane. That unit also had a red indicator, but it was hard to see. This unit is super easy to see when one tank is empty. Another problem I had with the other unit was the gas supply. I noticed when I had my fireplace on and I was cooking on the stove, the fireplace would go out (I assumed to lack of fuel supply ). I always though it was too cold out and the tanks could not off gas enough. After installing this unit, I have used the stove and the fireplace at the same time and the fireplace stays on (roughly the same temps outside). This leads me to believe the old unit had a BTU rating that was not accurate. I have read other reviews that say just the opposite for this unit, so I guess lucky me mine is working fine. We will see how long it last, but for the time being I like it.

I installed this a while back still working fine, it looks to be of good quality.

I’m giving this an initial 4 stars as I was surprised to see it arrived in just the plastic bag from the manufacturer and then just an Amazon envelope. It appears to be a reasonably solid rig however I’d think something that does what this does would be in a box to protect it a little bit better, fittings sticking out. The cover and dial are both plastic and could have easily been broken depending on where it ends up in the delivery vehicles. It looks fine and I did install it but just haven’t tried it out yet. I’ll follow up after that!
Follow up: fit perfect and works fine.
