I bought a battery jumper pack to keep in the car. When it was well below 0 degrees my battery died. So I decided to use my portable battery jumper pack which was in my trunk. I opened the positive clamp and because it was plastic and sol cold outside, it shattered in my hand. So instead of replacing the whole pack, which I have used and liked, I bought these clamps. They are metal with a coating and no plastic.
To use these clamps, it works best if you have 2 people. First, unscrew the screw in the clamp. Slide out the copper piece that your wire will be attached to. Take your wire and strip it back so that it is as long as where the screw hole is on the copper piece. Have someone hold the wire on/in the copper piece while you take a channel locks and fold over each side of the copper piece. Give it a good hard squeeze. If you have access to a vise, use that after to really make sure your wire is really held down. Give the wire a slight tug to make sure it is secure. Next grab the clamp and use a flat head screwdriver to pry up the area on the inside of the clamp so the copper piece will slide into place. Pry up and move this piece which will have tension on it. Move it out of the way on top of the inside of the clamp. You should have enough room to slide the copper piece with wire up into the area where it needs to be fastened with the screw. Open the clamp enough so you can get the screw hole lined up and have someone screw it in while you keep the clamp opened. Then take your screw driver and move that piece back on top of the new wire which will then put pressure on the wire so that it does not accidentally get yanked out of the copper piece. Do the same for the other clamp. Done.
It is a process to get this done, but completely worth it if you have a battery jumper pack or anything with plastic clamps. If you have plastic clamps and live in an area where it gets below freezing, replace them and do not wind up in the situation I was in.

Been through several sets of clamps to power a 12volt diesel pump. All have quickly failed until we tried this FJC model. After a couple months, still working perfectly.

product works very well

Not anywhere near as beefy as they seem in the picture. I was looking for something to rebuild my industrial kind of jumper cables. I ended up using these on my battery charger instead. If you want the best, look for Associated Equipment 6205.

They work perfectly fine easy install. Only downside is they are made of a little thinner guage of steel then my originals so you can what size has been replaced. But again work great so really dosent matter
