I admire the ingenuity to come up with an oil pan sealing solution for these Honda V6 engines that doesn’t involve a giant continuous bead of messy, time-sensitive sealant.
However, I’m not sure how this gasket ever made it out of R&D.
When the steel frame of the gasket settles over the two alignment dowels of the oil pan, the gasket bows up 1/2” off the surface of the pan in between the dowels. Application is a 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring (J35A7).
With no wiggle room around the alignment holes and such a poor dry fit, I didn’t even bother to try installing it. Back on the box it went.
Felpro, please try again…it’s a great idea, but it needs a bit more attention to detail.

I say that better then hondabond I works but if you have the pan off its better have a steel gasket

The gasket is super bad waste of time and money. The bolt openings are not accurately located. You can see from the picture that when you put the gasket through the guiding pins, those openings are closer which caused the gasket to bend up. I have increased the opening on both side, not hitting the actual robbery material in order to avoid bending it while installing the open leaked right away after installation I think overall this gasket is poorly designed and the robbery material on top of the steel gasket is not enough to hold oil or Prevent leakage. My advice is due like whatever everyone else is doing. Use Honda bond! I wasted five hours of work which I need now to repeat it again.
