Chevy 3.1 liter engine was probably the worst engine Gm ever made do to these plastic intake manifold gaskets. I had taken my 99 Malibu to the mechanic 3 times in the cars life for the same problem. A very pricey issue. Finally I got tired of this problem bought this wonderful set and took out the old gaskets and realized the mechanic each time replaced the flawed plastic gaskets with another set of plastic gaskets knowing that they would fail eventually again and have another nice payday for something that could have been eliminated for the life of the car by purchasing this metal gasket set. Be careful and talk to u r mechanic and make sure they use metal gaskets instead of the factory plastic gaskets that will inevitably fail. Excellant set. Worth the price.

This is by far the best intake gasket set I have found, It is the first intake set I have found that uses a metal lower intake gasket with rubber around the ports, not the normal plastic gasket with a bead of silicone around the ports which the plastic always breaks and puts water into the engine oil. I purchased this Intake gasket set a couple months ago and all of the gaskets fit the engine and all it’s parts great and have held up with not problems or leaks as of yet.

So my 1998 Malibu developed the dreaded intake gasket leak for the third time in the last ten years. Both prior times I used either the OE plastic gasket or an aftermarket plastic gasket. This time I used this set, the metal core shouldn’t be prone to degrading and eventually leaking the way the original fibrous plastic does. The set doesn’t come with the manifold bolts that are recommended to be replaced when doing this repair, that would be my only nitpick about this product.

When my car kept overheating, even during the least amount of driving (think less than five miles), I was in a panic. I drive for a living, using my own vehicle. If my car didn’t work, I was out of job. Not a good thing.
Enter my son-in-law. He looked over all the available information about what might be the problem. He looked under the hood and under the car. He scanned the internet to find exactly what my Malibu needed. Turns out, it was this kit. At $68, it’s a bargain, all things considered. Since its installation, my car doesn’t overheat.
The kit came in a long, thin cardboard “box.” It stayed together through the UPS system. Opening that, I found a sealed package; the kind that has the plastic sealing in everything against the cardstock backing. Every part necessary for fixing the manifold was in there and undamaged.
However, I was annoyed to read on the outer package: cannot be returned once opened. Now, I figured the company meant the inner package. I also figure that the company says that to protect itself from the unscrupulous who might take out a piece or two and then claim it wasn’t in there to begin with. But, doing so says something about the company: it treats all its customers as if we’re all thieves. Hence the four stars instead of five.
The product works well. The attitude of the company doesn’t.

The port holes are a different size. But the rest of the gasket set I was able to use.But I intake gasket was the wrong one.So again I paid for something and couldn’t use all of it.

This is the set you want to end your intake water leaks. Came with more than enough silicone to apply to the necessary areas and after I put these in, the leaks were gone.

Great kit, had everything I need for the repair on my daughter’s 97 Lumina LTZ with the 3100 v6.

Box had been opened, then taped closed. Sloppily.
Missing one upper plenum gasket.
Both lowers were bent, but not kinked, so I could use them after straightening.
Had to run to GM to buy plenum gasket. They come in a set.
So I have an extra lower plenum gasket.
I guess I could have put that in the package and returned it.
But I don’t do that kind of thing, even if it was done to me.
Sour experience with Amazon, but unusual.
DON’T PAWN OFF OPEN BOX AS NEW !!!!!
I won’t be buying gasket sets from Amazon any more.

This has everything and then some!
you get the metal lower intake manifolds instead of the cheap plastic ones, you get a set of valve cover gaskets, upper intake manifold gaskets with sealer (most do not have the blue sealant), you get the EGR gaskets (these are expensive to buy alone), you get a new gasket for your coolant temperature sensor, you get a coolant tube gasket and last but not least you also get an oil pump drive gear gasket (if I’m not mistaken on that one).
Yes this is an excellent bargain for this quality set!
