My Ford was acting up and I did not know it, but the gas cap was left by my son at the gas station. Went back and someone else had taken it. I let it go for a while and my truck would die when driving down the road. I looked it up and it said if the cap is not pressurized, you can throw off the electronic idle or gas mixture. I noticed worse gas millage also, after the new cap, it went back to normal

This cap screws into the gas tank properly and seals well. However the tether connection is too large to fit into the existing tether hole which was a fastener through a metal loop on the original gas cap. The tether is no as pictured. It is not a loop to put the original fastener through, but a large press-fit plastic connector. It is easy to open and close, my only concern is my son putting it down at the pump somewhere and forgetting it when he finishes filling up. It was difficult to find the right gas cap to fit this vehicle, there is another model with no tether that is listed as an “exact fit” in all the store and online computers but it is not a grooved screw style cap, it is a 3 notch press/twist fit cap that absolutely does not fit. If the tether was as pictured in this item description, it would have fit perfectly.
Update 6/12/2023 – After contacting seller via Amazon, seller apologized for a shipping error and refunded the price of the item without requiring a return. My son managed to remove the plug from the ring (it is clearly not meant to be removed it has one-way barbs to hold it in place) with significant pressure to push it up a few ridges and then snipped it off with a wire cutter, then we were able to attach it to the tether point to avoid the cap being left at the pump. It’s working fine, just a bit of extra effort to modify it.

The gas cap fits, but my suv says that the gas cap is not on or isn’t tightened properly. Happened a week past the return window. I would advise against buying this.

This is my 3rd cap now due to misplacement on my part. The last replacement that was supposedly oem kept triggering my check gas cap warning. Since I have had this brand, I have had zero triggering of that warning. Good brand and good value!
