I decided to try this timing chain kit for the F150. My truck had been making that annoying weird sound, and it was clear the phasers and timing chain needed replacing, felt a decrease in power as well. This kit fit perfectly, and I’m really impressed with the results. I had my mechanic handle the installation due to the complexity, but once it was done, the difference was immediate. The engine is so much quieter now, and acceleration feels way smoother. The best part? This kit includes the cam phasers, which is a huge bonus considering how common the VVT phaser problem is with these engines. If you have a 2004-2010 F-250, or a similar vehicle with the 5.4L engine and you’re dealing with cam phaser or timing chain issues, this kit is a great fix. It’s affordable and really restored my truck’s power and performance. Highly recommend it!

This kit had the smaller nosed water pump which means smaller threads don’t fit the existing fan clutch threads. Most of the rest was of fair quality. Valve cover gaskets were not a great fit, but workable . I missed the return window by 12 days , so it is partially my fault for not double checking the size of the water pump fitting earlier, but I had already used the rest of the kit at this point. So now, I have to buy an adapter or the correct water pump. Simply pump even though amazon said it was a match the water pump in this kit is the wrong size for a 2007 f150 5.4L 3v Triton. Be aware.

This generation of 5.4L Ford engine has a bit of a problem with its VVT “Phasers” that advance the camshafts in response to demand for acceleration – as controlled and powered by oil pressure. The problem is that once the phasers become clogged, the default position they fall back to is pretty much zero advance (newer generations settle at a medium advance) which means the engine is pretty much permanently in a “limp” mode or it sure feels like it when I step on the gas. So as part of a timing kit it only makes sense to replace the phasers, and THIS KIT INCLUDES THE PHASERS and I’m pretty happy about that. After installing this (my shop guys did it for me) I was amazed at the power that returned for this truck – once the old phasers were gone, acceleration was crisp and strong. Very happy with this kit being so complete and including those all-important phaser units.
