Replaced cracked thermostat housing, water pump, serpentine belt and coolant hoses on Chevy Sonic. Thermostat housing included w thermostat. Do yourself a favor & get a torque wrench. It’s extremely easy to over torque the bolts if doing by hand! Over torqued bolts will roll/distort the rubber gasket & increase risk for leaking. Bolt torque for 2012 1.8L is only 72 inch lbs (5.9 ft lbs).

Worked great while it lasted. But the wiring connections corroded and failed internally. Causing the thermostat to stay closed. Unfortunately it happened on the highway at 1am with no safe place to pull off. Motor is now shot.

Thermostat housing is good quality is good went on no problems gaskets work perfect only problem is is the cheap sensors that come with it so far too have failed since I put this product in just had the coolant temperature sensor fail on my wife got stuck on the highway luckily I’ve got about 20 years in automotive maintenance so it didn’t take long to repair it… But from now on I will not buy anything that already has such an important sensor included I kind of probably should have known better but lesson learned

I had a coolant leak coming the original thermostat and I lost heat in the car. I removed the original part and could see that it was cracked and that the rubber gasket was broken. I replaced the original with this part. The part fit and functions perfectly. After replacing the thermostat with the unit, the leak went away and heat began to work in the car.
Good value for the part and it fits like the original part.
Do some research before you try to install. While the part is perfect replacement, make sure you have the right tools to drain the coolant, remove the clamps and bleed the coolant lines.

This is a good replacement. We only needed a sensor but decided to replace the whole unit and upgrade the plastic parts by going to the new aluminum housing. In the process you get both sensors and a new t-stat and housing. Overall it is a direct replacement and easy to change. The only thing we had to add was the one plastic fitting and hose directly on top of the unit and the dealer had this in stock,,,,,,they said this part gets brittle from engine heat and they replace them all the time. Do yourself a favor and replace the whole thing with this unit,,,,,,,,,, for the money you get all the extras saving you additional time and cost later.

This thermostat arrived within 4 days of ordering. Fit was easy and perfect for my 2012 Chev Sonic 1.8L Hatchback. Also replaced the Throttle Body Heater Inlet Pipe. Installation for the two took 2.5 hrs. Between the two I’m now getting an average of Ten-MPG Better. The Check Engine light went off after running the engine for a minute, turning it off, then repeating five or so times and letting it rest for twenty minutes before restarting again.

I bought this part to replace the OEM thermostat housing on a 2014 Chevrolet Trax. I had leakage issues due to the fact the OEM part is plastic basically and the heat transfer from the aluminium motor was too much. I have seen other Chevrolet models using the same part having similar leakage issues. The OEM part was no less of $200 and is still a plastic part (not the thermostat, just the housing).
This part fit perfectly a Chevrolet Trax 2014 1.8L engine. I replace the original clamps because those clamps tend to lose the original diameter with size and i just metalic clamps with a bolt to avoid leakage. I still need to see how much the actual thermostat will last. Nonetheless, just having the aluminium housing (for me) justifies the investment in this part.
I have this part installed for two weeks: zero leakage and fan is working properly.

This part replaces a GM component that’s made of plastic and frequently fails as a result. The all metal construction here will significantly reduce the chances of failure.

The factory thermostat housing on 2012-2016 1.8L Ecotec engines has an all-plastic design. Newer models have a redesigned version that’s half plastic and half aluminum. Over time both of these will start to develop cracks to due excessive heat and pressure in the cooling system. OEM specs call for a 20 psi radiator cap and a thermostat that doesn’t begin to open until the coolant reaches a temperature of 221°F. An all-aluminum part is essential for handling that kind of stress. I’m very happy with this product. It was not that difficult to install and I saved hundreds over what the dealer wanted to replace it. It’s been a little over a month since I installed it and have had no issues at all.
Some items to note regarding installation that may be of some help:
The throttle body heater hose has a quick disconnect that is on top of the thermostat housing. You simply pull up on it and when I did mine broke. Pressed for time, I went to the dealer for a replacement. The guy at the parts counter said it is common for this to occur. Also, removing the air filter box will make it easier to get to the connection on the throttle body itself. The OEM spring-type hose clamps were not tight enough to properly secure the hoses to the new housing. I replaced them with marine grade screw adjustables.
