This air filter was almost identical to the prior one I had in the car. The prior one was a non-OEM filter which I recall matched the OEM filter very well. It seems to perform just as well as the other filters when it comes to responsiveness, efficiency, and sound. Luckily, Mazda has made it exceedingly easy to replace the air filter. I would highly recommend making this a DIY maintenance task. You end up saving quite a bit of money, and it’s less than five minutes once you know what you’re doing (youtube tutorials are great).

This engine air filter is a perfect fit for my 2014 Mazda CX-5. The filter frame seems rigid and solid, while the filter material seems to be comparable to the name brand filters. The surprising thing is that this replacement filter is priced higher than some of the most popular name brands of the same filter. I don’t see any information about this filter being more beneficial than the OEM or name brand filters, only comparable. So, I would say, all things being equal, shop around for the best price.

I needed to replace my air filter in my car for inspection the shop wanted to charge me $75 for the filter and to install. I look online and this was 1/4 the price and the same thing they were going to give me. I did it at home in 5 minutes. I would recommend this to anyone looking to save on the air filters from the shops overpriced labor and up charging for the product.
