I bought these hoping that they could replace my OEM coilpacks and improve performance on high load low rpm driving and high rpm high load driving. The only drivable scenario with these coil packs is right in the middle. These coilpacks work enough to drive the car but nothing more, they misfire badly and will barely make the car run on a cold start. just spend the money and get OEM coilpacks

I had stopped buying parts off amazon because of quality issues. Well my car went down for 3 solid months because of the far more expensive “OEM” coils I purchased at Advance. Once I started testing the coils with a multimeter– All 4 from advance were bad out of the box! I had to wait for them to exchange them because they are never in stock anywhere. I had used ENA before in my Nissan and knew they stood by their product, so for less than the price of 1 coil at Advance, I got this set, and all 4 worked and my car started immediately. All that time and effort wasted. And the exchanged set from Advance? New set only had 2 good one and 2 bad ones. But advance wont take returns even if parts are not installed. waiting on the district manager to either get me a working set of their expensive coils as spares or refund all that money I spent AND 3 months of DOWN TIME – thanks advance auto parts

These will work out of the box. Probably.
If you’re looking for OEM grade replacements, look elsewhere. These will go out faster than OEM coils. The ones I received however were good enough to get me out of a jam and ran perfectly for around 3,000 miles of spirited driving on a sub par engine. After that they were pretty much toast.

These coils worked great! Not sure if they will last as well as the ones that are most recommended from members on the rx8club web sight but, without a doubt , as good or better coils found at your local part store. If money is a factor and your having coil related issues I would order these rather than waiting until you can afford other very expensive ones because they are the best priced coils anywhere and the last thing you want to do is drive your car with bad coils.

Best Ignition Coils for my beloved RX-8 that I’ve purchased. I blew the APEX seals on my original engine and was forced to replace the engine with a NEW OEM purchased from the factory. I have a Mazda mechanic who specializes in Rotaries. FOr some reason, cold weather has been effecting my coils. I purchased a very expensive set of Ignition Coils online that were $35 each. These only lasted 10,000 miles before the same probkem developed. (At least one of the four coils fail and I get a 0302 ESC on my SEL.) It’s always the bottom plug that misfires, which results in a serious loss of HP, since 80% of the compression in the twin rotary on a Renesis is developed at the bottom of the rotary cycle. Anyhow, I decided to buy these cheaper coils while I waited for a warranty exchange from the shop that sold me the more expensive coils. These coils have lasted 30,000 miles so far and all through the winter. (knock on wood) But I have decided if the failure happens again, I will buy these more inexpensive coils as a replacement, rather than the more expensive coils. BTW, I also replaced wires and plugs when I did both Ignition Coil replacements. It’s very easy to do this work as a backyard mechanic. The access port for the plugs is a removable panel in the drivers side wheel well and requires removal of the LF wheel. The Torsion bar on top of the engine should be removed before removing the engine air filter and getting easy access to the coils.
UPDATE: 20,000 miles more on these coils and only one misfire since I installed these. I’m probably going to replace these before the winter hits anyway, with the SAME product. Highly recommend using the dielectric grease that comes with it to enhance the ground path.

Usually one coil pack is 24.59 getting 4 for the price is well worth it and they work just fine
