The filter is fine; Mazda’s implementation sucks. This thing is behind multiple screws in the firewall side of the center console, and then they are stacked one on top of the other (install one, lift it up, then slide the other in). Then screw everything back in. Ridiculous design for a component that should be regularly replaced!
Took about 45 minutes to install (I’m a bit “broad shouldered” *cough* overweight *cough*, and could not squeeze between the seat and the door/glovebox far enough–had to ask my thinner neighbor for help). After this, I did my Kia Optima: opened the glovebox, twisted two pieces, then popped the filter cover off the back–it took about 5 minutes including looking up and reading the instructions.

Filters work perfectly with my Mazda 3 (Euro Spec/ I’am stationed in Germany currently). Filter fit just like OEM. They are hard to so install but it’s not due to the filter more Mazda that makes it super difficult to reach the filters.

The filter is great the air smells fresh. And they fit perfectly. The hard part is getting to the filter compartment in a 2008 mazda 3, but this problem has nothing to do with this product.

This product does exactly what it says it does…. Now getting it installed on the Mazda5 is tricky! I am not that large of a guy and to get my hands and body in a place where I can unscrew and screw in those top 2 screws and then to get both parts of the filter in… whew that took some car mechanic yoga moves that were unexpected! However, I did get it installed. I found it worthwhile to note the spongy thing went to the top, I was putting it in wrong a couple times and then finally got it right and it went a lot easier… as one might expect 🙂

Filters seem well made and fit well. My 2007 Mazda 3 design makes quite the challenge to install them. I had to remove two interior panels, disconnect 7 connectors, remove the fuse panel, remove the fuse panel mounting bracket, remove the filter cover plate, remove the old filters, then came the hard part. Trying to get the filters in with one on top the other… if you’re a bigger guy, forget it. My 11 year old grandson was able to get them in for me after I tried for about half and hour… then I had to clear all the engine light codes, reprogram my radio and clock after connecting the fuse panel and putting everything back together. It’s not the filters fault. It’s Mazda’s inconvenient design.
