This was a great solution to my broken key problem. As the description says this is just the fob shell – you take the all the inside parts from your old fob and put it into this shell. That means your current fob has to be functioning. In our case, the key broke off but the fob worked fine. As others have mentioned, bring it to a locksmith to have the key cut. As first, the locksmith we went to was reluctant to cut it because it was a vehicle key and said he couldn’t guarantee it would work – that was fine because I would be no worse off if it didn’t work. It worked perfectly, though, and I now have two functioning keys again!

So I have two original keys. One had the metal battery ring clip missing so I used the one from this key. Fit perfectly. The other original key had ugly worn down buttons, so I swapped the rubbery button covers to the original. Wahla! now I have a refreshed key that looks almost new and the other one is now working perfectly. Only thing remaining is the literal shell. I put that away just in case. Money well spent.

These are exactly what they say they are but nobody will cut them. Not the hardware store, not locksmith, not the dealer.
I bought because the little ring on our keyfob cracked and it wont stay on ring, but THIS key has a screw holding the metal to plastic and original is glued in.
Assumed it would still be okay if I could get it cut, then I could just hop the innards – but as mentioned: 12 inperson stops and 8 phone calls got me nowhere.
Kids play with them now.

The keys arrived and matched up with the originals (as far as length/size goes). Unfortunately, took it to Lowe’s and they screwed up the first blank – stating that they can’t guarantee that it would work because of the transponder within it and that he’s not comfortable with it. I explained that he need not worry about that part and that I just want it cut to match the original and I’ll figure out the rest. I asked if he could “cut” it, he said “yes”. Well he cut it and it did not even come out close to what the original was – all he said was that he was “sorry”… so one blank key left, and one useless key…
So I hunted down an actual locksmith nearby and he attempted to try to cut it but stopped because the “FOB” portion of the keys were not lining up correctly and it was in the way while on his machine. He recommended another known locksmith of whom I contacted and that gentleman said that he could do it because he has a machine that will accept a “wider” FOB. So we’ll see how this goes…
This is not an issue with the blank keys itself, it’s more of finding the right locksmith that can cut the key(s).

This key fob was pretty simple to setup. It wasn’t my first time, so I know of all the things that can happen when I open up my old key fob (guts spilling out). Works great!
