DO NOT BUY for a 1997 2.3L Ford ranger…
I attempted to insert the fuel pump and it hit the bottom of the tank with about 2 inches sticking out of the gas tank. I believe it would fit the 4.0L but if you have the 2.3L engine, the tank is smaller and will not fit this fuel pump assembly.

Ordered one for my wifes hunting truck. Worked for a couple of days then quit. Ordered a replacement and truck is running now but not sure for how long.
