Used to be that a guy could pull out the transmission’s dipstick, put a funnel in the dipstick hole, and fill up the transmission with fluid. Those romantic days of yesteryear are now long gone. Nowadays, working from the underside of the vehicle, a guy must find and remove the fill plug that is somewhere near the top of the transmission, and then screw in an adaptor and pump in transmission fluid like a boat motor’s lower unit. Sigh. This adaptor screws into 8-speed 8L90 Hydromatic GM transmissions (the C7 Corvette, Camaro SS, 1/2-ton GM pickups, and SUV) and has a barb to attach to your pump’s hose on the other end.
The adaptor itself is about 2″ long and the adaptor’s hole through which transmission fluid fills is approximately 1/8″ ID on the threaded end, but the barb takes 3/8″ ID hose. In other words, you’re going to be pumping transmission fluid in for a while. Thanks, GM.
